The first few weeks of the second Trump Administration were exciting and hopeful.
Elon Musk (along with the support of a large majority of Americans) was going to dive into the Swamp to finally free the American citizens.
It actually looked promising for awhile. We were getting focused action from DOGE. Not just the usual talk.
With every new announcement, it looked that we actually were about to put the last 100 years of government growth behind us:
- The pentagon would be audited,
- Ft. Knox would be visited,
- The Fed would be audited,
- TRILLIONS of dollars would be cut from the government budget!
- America would finally be put first!
But alas, even the richest man in the world (armed with massive public opinion) would be blocked ... by both parties.
None of the above are even mentioned anymore.
It was all stopped cold, and reversed.
Government growth is not behind us, but ahead of us!

Thomas Massie just exposed a tactic lobbyists use to control Congress.
"A lobbyist can't buy me food, but I can go to launch, pick up the tab, and the lobbyist can write me a $5,000 check to my campaign, and then my campaign can pay for the food."
"The lobbyists, when they give you money, ostensibly they're not giving you their money. They're not even giving you their corporation's money. They are giving you money from employees of that corporation who have pooled their money into a club or a group. And they've been persuaded maybe by their management that they should give a little back to this because their job would be more secure if they supported their lobbying efforts in D.C."
I can't even pretend to be surprised anymore. Congress is the den of liars and thieves.
President Trump casually mentioned that the U.S. will have its first TRILLION dollar military budget.
This doesn't, in any sense, sound like a government looking to cut waste, fraud and abuse.
We have been bankrupted (economically and morally) by endless wars that have provided our people with no benefits...only costs.
We'll never know what the American standard of living could have been had we not squandered away so many trillions on wars.
We can put an end to the squandering, and that was the hope with President Trump.
But alas, even with total Republican control, the federal debt continues to rise, with more of our money being pumped into the military-industrial complex.
This is all bad news for our nation.

@Tyry202 A lot of great takes. Don’t discount your ability to get those fringe kids more involved or more excited with games and competition. Used appropriately they can be a huge help for all of your kids.
I love that Trump didn’t just commute Ross, but gave him a full pardon and was so vicious about the people who put him behind bars. “Scum” was the perfect description.
After more than a decade of insane wokeism, I understand why there has been a rise in hardcore right wing sentiment. When dudes in dresses are giving lap dances to 11 year olds, a “put them against the wall” tweet is much more satisfying than a message about individual liberty, and that’s understandable.
So, I apologize for this bleeding heart libertarian message, but at some point we need to grow up and think about what kind of society we want for our children, not just what message sounds more hardcore and will ‘own the libs.’
Ross was given two life sentences plus 40 years for creating a website. Think about how insane that is. How barbaric and vicious it is to hand that type of sentence to anyone, short of the most brutal violent criminals. Call it what it is: state sanctioned torture.
There are many people who are burned by the legal system the way Ross was and after Jan 6th and the Trump trials, right wingers should recognize this danger and blatant miscarriage of justice.
Americans should consciously consider who we want to be as a society. Do we want to be the freest country in the world, or the country that imprisons its own people the most and the hardest. You can’t be both and the choice should be obvious.
I'm still having trouble processing the fact that an actual American presidential ticket, that might actually win office, openly embraces censorship, suppression of speech, and mass violation of the first amendment. And the old civil liberties groups are fine with it.
@jimshapiro You’re not wrong but the NCAA is about money and coaching (and sports in general) isn’t about creating and fostering positive values anymore.
Little trivia coach - do you know the history of football and why it was created?
For over 100 years, the U.S. government ‘tolerated’ freedom of speech because they virtually controlled the information that Americans received.
Whether it be from the government-controlled schools, or from watching one of the handful of ‘licensed’ TV stations, all Americans consumed the same pre-packaged “narratives.”
There was no threat to the government from Americans speaking freely, as long as the “narratives” were controlled.
But that monopoly has been shattered with the Internet.
We all choose our sources of information, who to follow and who to block, or just ignore.
While lies will always exist (both in and out of government) the American people actually have fighting chance to hear the truth!
It's now possible to hear/see/read the truth, and it can come from anywhere in the world, at any time.
Under these new circumstances, the government is finding freedom of speech intolerable, because their control over information is gone.
Watch below:
.@RepThomasMassie: "I came here to make sure our republic doesn't die by unanimous consent in an empty chamber and I request a recorded vote."
"A recorded vote is refused...The chair will count for a quorum...A quorum is present. The motion is adopted."
HOLY SH*T @RepThomasMassie calls out the Speaker of the House.
Bravo Mr. Massie for your courage to always do the right thing.
Thomas Massie represents the independent voices of America who are tired of corruption at the highest levels.
