@fancyoverture I see so many bafflingly stupid and ignorant takes on social media, that I'm in a perpetual state of "Is this ragebait or is this person genuinely that dim?" Then I see their bio and it has "proud Christian" or something to that effect and I start leaning towards the latter...
@StrayDogYusu@Julius_Garfield Now hold on a tick there, buster! I'll have you know the writing in Bloodborne is great ... if you can find it, that is ;)
No, but seriously, Bloodborne could be a good example of how the way a narrative is presented and delivered can have a huge impact too.
@SpicyDaddy8 It's interesting how quickly the goalposts moved. First it was "'AI safety' orgs" paying "massive amounts of $$" but that seems to have completely disappeared from the follow-ups. It's clear I've hit a nerve too, as I'm now a proud member of the Blocked By Taylor Lorenz Club ;)
@ZombiWorkshop I decided some years ago that any work for friends is either something I'm comfortable doing for free or I kindly decline. Whenever money is involved, things have a tendency to get shitty one way or another.
If they offer me money after the fact, I'll gladly take it, ofc. ;)
@Meta38372828@rubynesoberi It is important to note that the game came out in 1986. Video games -- especially home systems -- were pretty fresh and people were so much less "tuned in" to conceptualising stuff like level layouts, etc. back then, so Metroid was definitely a bigger challenge than it is today.
@Mappy6984@DJ62250 Is your disability cognitive by any chance? Because that's the only way I can imagine you being so utterly ignorant of how it's possible for someone to be able to only walk short distances and needing a wheelchair most of the time.
@GMXHardcore@bob_burrough I mean, what's the point of spending resources on human athletes and all the competitions like the Olympics? When you figure that out, I reckon you'll have a good basis to extrapolate the rest :)
@bob_burrough To be fair, "falling forward and consistently catching yourself" is how human locomotion works, so it kind of makes sense for a bipedal bot to be tuned to maximise that whole thing. It doesn't care if it falls over like humans do, after all :)
@CVLLOUS Any creator worth their salt understands the importance of a good thumbnail and anyone half-arsing theirs is telling you that they're happy to cut corners, which in turn gives the potential viewer a very good idea of what their content will be like as well.
@RepFaison You thought you did something here, didn't you? I mean, you did -- you showed everyone that you don't know the difference between a hyperscaling genAI data center and a more storage and content delivery oriented one. It's honestly pretty sad how out of your depth you seem to be.
@CVLLOUS@LateNightHalo The thumbnail or the proverbial cover is the thing that's meant to convince me that the contents therein are worth my time and money. It's the literal first impression and if my first impression is negative, why would I bother when there's so much other media to consume?
@Jyksssss@Cade_Onder Yeah, that's fair. There's no reason to assume it'll be a messy launch, but with how AAA releases seem to be these days, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it ended up being a bit bumpy at the very least.
@Jyksssss@Cade_Onder I don't know, man... It's been 8 years since RDR2 with Online coming in a year later. That's a lot of time for things to get wonky internally, plus I'm sure there's a LOT of pressure from Take-Two coming their way to get VI out the door. We'll have to wait and see how it goes.
