@finbarrtimbers Consider Phlebus is worse than mid. Totally grotesque and pointless. BUT most of the other books are gems.
Hydrogen Sonata, Surface Detail, Matter, Excession, and Use of Weapons all slap.
🚨GIF THREAD ALERT – With great elation, we present our latest epic exploring “Temporal Dynamics Underlying Prelimbic Prefrontal Cortical Regulation of Action Selection and Outcome Evaluation during Risk/Reward Decision-Making” in @SfNJournals#JNeurosci https://t.co/mZOMoxQzn2
How does our ability to make an effort to avoid unpleasant situations and obtain rewards differ by gender? I explored this question with @BecketTodd and others in my first-author paper in @SfNJournals#eneuro, based on my master's thesis. https://t.co/6tKjYZEh3s

Troubleshooting a new antibody in mouse brain #immunofluorescence and wonder if anyone has come across this spindly staining? It's in multiple channels. Thinking its over-permeabilization from too much triton x-100? Send help! @IBNSconnect@PsychopharmEBPS@BPA_ECRN@SfNtweets
@jdavidjentsch @MedAssociates We also just switched from PCI to USB and had the same problem, IIRC taking the PCI card out of the computer did the trick. @shaydensl @MudiZhao am I remembering that correctly or was there more to the solution?
Need help making your money last to end of term but don’t know where to start? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Another year of tuition "engagement" by
@UBC which finds that 80% of students struggle financially w/ housing & food, near-universal opposition to tuition increase, and UBC pushes forward anyway. My question: is there a threshold where this would matter? If not, why the charade?
This article has some very important real talk all universities should care about. If you value your grad students and their success/mental health-stop setting funding minimums for LESS than minimum wage and stop charging full tuition for research-based degrees
@mbeisen Highly highly recommend Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky and Ancillary Justice by Anne Leckie. Also Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge is incredible (though a bit older). All superb space opera in the tradition of Banks, Asimov, Herbert, Niven et al.
We, the employers of our students should to support this cause. On its part, @ubc must raise its allocation to university graduate student scholarships and support research on campus.
I started a glove recycling program at @DMCBrainHealth this past year in hopes of getting more buildings around @UBC involved. Please DM me if you're interested in spearheading a similar initiative in your dept, it's super easy!
