To prepare for today's history final, 8th graders made Snapchats to summarize events in US history. They are... honestly the best. Educational? 🤷♀️ Amazing and hilarious? Yes. #svvsdstorm#ushistory
8th graders created their Freedom & Slavery Quilt squares this week and wrote such thoughtful reflections. So proud of their artistry, curiosity, and compassion #StVrainStorm#USHistory
Last book of the school year & 1st book of summer- @DustiBowling, these two books are delightful and sweet and challenging and all amazing things! Outstanding middle grade stories📚
Saying this as much for myself as anyone else...This summer has the potential to deliver unprecedented healing and restoration. Take full advantage. Make the most of it. You deserve rest. Now is as good a time as any to redraw boundaries, discover your version of self care.
🌎You guys HAVE TO check out this FREE website! It is a gamified virtual field trip where you guess the locations using high-quality videos!
✈️ The best part is that it has a MULTIPLAYER mode where your whole class can view and play simultaneously!

assessing student achievement and the quality of schools and districts based on an outdated test is dramatically limiting our children’s opportunities and, I believe misleading the public in regards to what our students are actually capable of.
Does your classrm #bookshelf reflect students or is it a reflection of the #reader YOU are?
Who is represented? Who is NOT? What genres are provided? Which are not? Will kids find their lived experiences in the pages & go on new adventures?
What is missing? #ReadingWritingELs
We unpacked yesterday’s attack for a full period, which wasn’t really my plan coming in this AM. It lead to topics from BLM to the order of succession to WWII; Kids were sharp, curious, worried, & sweet in their processing. I gotta tell ya, our future looks bright from here.
I’m just starting Land of the Cranes by @aida_writes, and it is as perfect & poetic as The Moon Within. Her stories in verse center young Latina voices & experiences we don’t always hear; I can’t wait to recommend to my 6th graders #DisruptTexts@ProjectLITComm
@mrsjjee This is extremely relatable content. I have no advice, but know you’re not alone at those hours! (Also, I received 3 assignments from kids between 1-4am this morning, so... I hope they outgrow this better than I have)
Final office hours before break: husband dons a shark costume & attacks the teacher. Kids promptly make it their background 😂 🦈 #teaching2020#husbandoftheyear
Hey SVVSD-You want to play some #svvsdselfcare Bingo with me over the break? I was inspired by last night's #ELMagChat ! Retweet/reply to accept the challenge and challenge your friends! #StVrainStorm
