We were given a planet that grows its own food, overflowing with trees, fruit, water, medicine, and sunlight, where life itself is abundant and generous. Yet we built systems of debt, competition, division, and war instead of learning to live in balance with it.
@NickKristof Hi Nick, I just sent you an important email at your NYT address regarding the Charmel Ulrich case — you covered it for the Oregonian in 1980. Please take a look.

This version of Bach’s first cello suite was recorded live in the Great Smoky Mountains. I’ve always thought of Suite No. 1 as “Nature at Play,” so it was a dream to play it with the birds, the trees, and the rushing brook. ▶️ https://t.co/AQn2pIuZQM

Death toll up to 80 and it is going to get much much higher. In addition to the physical resources Maui will need, there will be need for mental health resources. A lot of people will have to grapple with PTSD. As a reminder, mental health care is health care.
The situation on Maui is devastating..Last night @WCKitchen teams brought hot meals, fresh sandwiches made by local restaurants, water &fruit to families in and around Lahaina . Today WCK teams are setting up again with thousands of meals for people in need🙏 #ChefsForHawaii
