@idlehandsdev If no phase change like in AC or canned air, use 1 and effect is Joule-Thompson expansion. For ideal gas, no temp change, real gas temp can decrease depending on pres difference.

@idlehandsdev No.1 is what is used in AC systems using vapour-compression, the valve causes a sudden drop in pres and temp before the evaporator. Is your supply a gas or liquid refrigerant?

@JuliusM05657169 @joebarnard Was going to propose similar. Copper heat pipes embedded into the nose cone would have thermal conductivity min. 5x greater than solid Cu and can effectively transfer heat over large distance.
