co-founder and ceo @chargebee, building billing and monetization infra for the AI age | host: Second Acts pod | love random long walks and cycling in that order
A new kind of CFO is in town. They speak the language of context files and python scripts. They run week-long, team-wide hackathons.
They’re actively hiring finance engineers and data scientists. And they’re fast enforcing a necessary revisiting of the modern finance stack.
OpenAI’s CFO, Sarah Friar, reflecting on her own team’s AI-native transformation, recently wrote: “Finance has become a real-time function.”
At Chargebee, we’re here for it. Some of the brilliant finance teams we serve have long been deploying the Chargebee MCP to reimagine quote-to-revenue workflows with agentic automation; all grounded in thoughtful auditability.
To mark this shift, we’re really excited about hosting Traceable: The first summit dedicated to documenting the rise of the AI-native finance function.
It’ll feature leading CFOs and heads of finance and operations, all sharing field notes and practitioner guidance on how they’re (re)building for this new world.
It’ll also feature a major Chargebee launch, a step change for agent-native finance operations.
Join us virtually on November 18th.

AI agents have made it possible to build a generational software company with a team of one. However, bringing that product to market and transforming it into a thriving, scalable business remains a significant challenge for modern founders.
We’re partnering with @tinyhumansai to bring Chargebee’s billing and monetization infrastructure directly into OpenCompany.
By embedding Chargebee capabilities into the OpenCompany stack, autonomous agents and solo builders can move from code to pricing, invoicing, and scaling growth without changing systems.
As thousands of builders create autonomous software companies, we're proud to provide the revenue foundation that powers their journey from first commit to global scale.
The one-person company stack is coming together.

Merge Gateway enables the best AI teams to attribute every single dollar as granularly as possible. That’s why we’re excited about supporting the launch of AUDR from the @chargebee team, an open specification for recording agent usage and costs. A much needed standard for the space. An AUDR adapter for the Merge Gateway will be out soon.
Check it out here: https://t.co/NMelNoqged
The economics under most agent products are still hard to see.
Teams ship an AI workflow without a firm cost-per-outcome understanding, reconcile the model bill against an average, and then quarter end arrives. A feature priced one way turns out far more costly to serve than expected.
Why? A single run extends across a harness, one or more routers, and the tools it calls, and each one sees only its own slice. The harness knows the customer and features. The router knows the tokens. A tool can hold a sandbox open for four minutes or wrap a paid API, but those costs never reach the router. Every layer can be fully instrumented, and we’ll still have no single record of what the run actually cost, end to end.
Today, we're proud to introduce AUDR (Agent Usage Detail Record), an open standard for that agent run cost record. The standard borrows from the telecom industry's Call Detail Record: meter usage now, price it later. Three rules make that possible: one run ID across every layer, one authoritative source per field, and strict merging with no silent overwrites.
We're building AUDR alongside some of the best teams in the ecosystem, as spec reviewers, early adopters, or advocates, including @merge_api, @mastra, and @tinyhumansai, among others. For developers to get started easily, the spec plan includes adapters for key platforms and frameworks, including @nvidia NeMo Relay, Merge Gateway, Mastra, @vercel eve, @LangChain, @LiteLLM, and @OpenRouter
Granular cost instrumentation is becoming foundational infrastructure for anyone building or monetizing agents. We think it should be open, neutral, and community owned. Read the spec, write an adapter, and help us improve it: https://t.co/3CWlgA4Ex2
A good test for custom/domain-specific harnesses is that their agentic output should get better with more capable models in the mix. Our team has been shaping the context, data, and environment(s) for ours with great deliberation.

Beelieve is back on the road in four more cities this fall.
Beelieve 2026 kicked off with incredible energy in San Francisco and London earlier this year, bringing together founders and leaders in product, finance, and ops for candid conversations on the front lines of modern revenue.
Together, we dove deep into what's truly reshaping our industry: transforming pricing from an afterthought into a core product driver, navigating a new landscape where agents handle purchasing autonomously, and building robust revenue recognition practices that hold up under scrutiny—far beyond the usual end-of-quarter scramble.
Building on the incredible momentum from SF and London, the journey continues in:
📍 Sydney on September 15th
📍 New York on September 22nd
📍 Berlin on October 6th
📍 Paris on October 14th
What makes these rooms special is the dynamic blend of perspectives—where visionary AI-native founders collaborate alongside seasoned SaaS veterans to navigate today's shifting landscape.
Every company, no matter its size, scale, or stage, is navigating the strategy and operations required to do business in the AI era. At Chargebee, we're proud to host these conversations as we build the core infrastructure powering that future.

India’s IT services industry is worth $264 billion, decades-old, outsourced to, giants in the arena. @realfastai is upending it with an ai-native approach.
@ponnappa, co-founder of realfast, ex-Gojek, shared that they hit $3M in revenue just in the first half of 2026, with margins close to 60%, and a very lean but mighty team.
We dig into the how, Sidu's vision, pricing services at a neofirm, thoughts on moat, building a team, and more.
My favorite was the story of Exo, what Sidu calls their alpha. How it is the result of a new kind of productization, why they don't sell it, and what it enables internally.
