How do two at-scale subscription companies—one a B2B SaaS platform with a freemium model, the other a B2C healthcare service—run pricing experiments without breaking ARR?

At Beelieve Sydney, Darcy Price (Engineering Manager at @Linktree_) and James Taylor (Chief Product Officer at Mosh) broke down how pricing decisions have moved out of finance spreadsheets and directly into product teams.

Here is how their operational motions compare:

Linktree’s Freemium & Entitlement Engine: Rather than constantly shifting baseline tier prices, Linktree runs major price tests twice a year. Alongside those tests, feature teams run constant, automated experiments on entitlements and feature add-ons—tailoring tiers based on user categories (e.g., real estate vs. creator) while finance sets strict risk guardrails.

Mosh’s Data-Driven Onboarding: Carrying direct unit costs for medications and doctors, Mosh uses a detailed intake quiz to segment users from day one. New customers who anchor to off-the-shelf pharmacy pricing may pay less upfront, while established medication users show willingness to pay more for high-value add-ons like biomarker scans.

As Darcy put it: pricing used to sit behind 55 spreadsheets in the office of the CFO. Today, engineering and product teams ship pricing experiments directly, freeing up the CFO to provide strategic oversight.

The common denominator for both models? Reliable data infrastructure. Without clean data behind every test, pricing experiments could devolve into internal friction and thrash.

Two invoices are unpaid. One still has automatic retries running. The other has exhausted its max retry attempts. Can your team tell which is which?

With Chargebee MCP, your collections team can easily ask Claude or ChatGPT which accounts are currently in the retry process, and which are most likely to recover — so they can prioritize where to spend their time.

Chargebee MCP checks live data and returns two lists: accounts still being retried, and accounts that need an intervention to recover revenue. For CFOs, that puts outstanding cash in a clear order: protect what can still be recovered, and decide on the rest.

Software companies and media brands don’t usually compare notes on pricing. But at Beelieve ’26 in NYC, they came together to draw surprising parallels between their approaches.

Daniel Cronyn, SVP, Growth at @useapolloio, and Nikita Bokil, Sr. Principal Product Manager, AI Platform at @Optimizely, brought the operator’s lens: how fast-moving product and growth teams structure pricing day to day.

Ethan Vaca, Customer Success Lead at @RilletHQ, and Jamie Wang, RevOps at @merge_api, took agile monetization down to the ground level, where it has to work at scale. @bmorrissey Founder at The Rebooting, brought the publisher’s lens, where six or seven business models run side by side under one roof.

These companies are solving the same problems from many different directions. On the software side, they’re testing fixed-plus-variable pricing in real time. The media side is asking a messier version of the same question: across content subscriptions, loyalty programs, advertising, live events, and affiliate marketing, where is value actually created, and who ends up paying for it? And across all these examples, a consistent thread: pricing has to move as fast as the business built around it.

Beelieve NYC was a stop to remember. Thank you to every speaker who joined us on stage.

What makes a prospect commit to credits, and what makes them hesitate?

Tomorrow, October 20, Ulrik Lehrskov-Schmidt (@Lehrskov), Senior Pricing Advisor and CEO at https://t.co/lvOZxGHSjI, joins Harikrishna P, Principal PMM at Chargebee, for a virtual session on How to Make Credit-Based Pricing Work: From Strategy to Execution.

Designing a credit model is one decision. Getting customers to commit to it, structuring renewals, and keeping the system sound as it scales introduce a hundred more. That's why the session covers both sides: the strategic framework for a model that works commercially, and the execution choices that decide whether it holds up in practice.

It starts with design: how should you build a credit model that customers will understand, trust, and buy? See Ulrik’s Volume Terms Matrix, the framework he uses to help companies get the initial purchase, overages, unused credits, and renewals right from the start. They’ll also discuss the rollover and allocation decisions that look simple on a pricing page but get complicated in practice, along with the friction teams typically hit when launching and scaling credits.

The session will draw on Ulrik’s perspectives from 200+ projects in AI and SaaS pricing, as well as best practices from companies running credits at scale.

Whether you're launching credits or adjusting a model that's already in market, this webinar is for you. Save your seat here: https://t.co/Vvgm1vYWNY

A new kind of CFO is in town. They speak the language of context files and python scripts. They run week-long, team-wide hackathons.

They’re actively hiring finance engineers and data scientists. And they’re fast enforcing a necessary revisiting of the modern finance stack.

OpenAI’s CFO, Sarah Friar, reflecting on her own team’s AI-native transformation, recently wrote: “Finance has become a real-time function.”

At Chargebee, we’re here for it. Some of the brilliant finance teams we serve have long been deploying the Chargebee MCP to reimagine quote-to-revenue workflows with agentic automation; all grounded in thoughtful auditability.

To mark this shift, we’re really excited about hosting Traceable: The first summit dedicated to documenting the rise of the AI-native finance function.

It’ll feature leading CFOs and heads of finance and operations, all sharing field notes and practitioner guidance on how they’re (re)building for this new world.

It’ll also feature a major Chargebee launch, a step change for agent-native finance operations.

Join us virtually on November 18th.

How are you building a finance organization that's AI-native, from how you handle product pricing and quoting all the way through to revenue recognition and collections?

Traceable: The AI Summit for Finance Orgs brings together finance leaders and practitioners to share the secrets, strategies, and lessons learned from putting AI to work.

Learn how robust finance orgs are adapting their systems, data, and cross-functional relationships to support AI-native business models. See show-and-tell sessions where leaders walk through the agentic workflows they've built, including the tools, prompts, and context files behind them. Go deeper on governance, trust, and auditability, including how much of an agent's output should stay in draft versus go final as humans and agents work side by side.

You'll also get the first peek at an exciting upcoming product launch from Chargebee, which enables agentic building for both finance and RevOps teams alike.

Join us November 18 at 11 AM EST. This virtual event is for finance and RevOps leaders, from individual contributors to CFOs, who are actively shaping what the finance function looks like in the AI era.

There's a need for a way to track agent costs and usage.

@Chargebee just introduced an open standard for that agent run cost record. They pushed the initial commit, with early reviews and contributions from awesome teams in the ecosystem like @mastra.

And they're launching today on @ProductHunt.

Small businesses pay by credit card. Enterprise customers sign multi-year contracts and pay via bank transfer. Most billing setups force a choice between the two. Here’s how @coefficient_io runs both on Chargebee.

Before working with Chargebee, the no-code data platform invoiced larger contracts manually out of Stripe and QuickBooks. Billing data sat scattered across systems, with no single record of who had paid. Every payment question went through engineering.

⟡ Two GTM models on one platform ⟡
Ali Block, who leads Billing Operations and Deal Desk at Coefficient, brought every active customer into Chargebee. One system now runs two distinct motions: self-serve customers pay by credit card, while enterprise customers sign custom terms with bank transfer and multi-year contracts. When a self-serve customer converts to a custom plan, the team updates the existing subscription in place, prorating from the current date to term end rather than reissuing and refunding. Sales and support now see payment status and account history directly.

⟡ Moving to usage and credits ⟡
After four years of seat-based pricing, Coefficient is moving into usage- and credit-based pricing for its AI products, and it won’t need to re-platform its billing system or pull engineers off the core product. Chargebee already had the capability built in, so the shift became a configuration, not a new build. "If we don't adapt to this, we get left behind," Ali says.

That shift shows up in the numbers too. Coefficient's accounting firm now closes the books in about a day, one to two weeks faster than before. Annual invoicing volume has since quadrupled, all on the same platform. As Ben Crosswell, Chief Operating Officer at Coefficient, put it: "Our accounting firm tells us our books are cleaner and close faster than any of their other clients."

Subscription traps are officially a regulatory problem on two continents.

New York City’s Click to Cancel rule took effect on October 1, 2026, enforced by @NYCMayor Zohran Mamdani and the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (@helloDCWP). It requires businesses to clearly disclose subscription terms and offer a cancellation process that's as easy as the one used to sign up. Companies are also prohibited from asking consumers to pay for shipping that they initially provided for free. Violations carry civil penalties starting at $525.

Across the Atlantic, the UK is building toward a similar standard. Under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCCA), businesses will need to give consumers clear information before they sign up, send renewal reminders, and offer a 14-day cooling-off period after a trial or 12-month-plus contract auto-renews. Consumers must also be able to exit a subscription online if they joined one online. The UK government estimates consumers currently lose £1.6 billion a year on subscriptions they never meant to keep. While initially expected to take effect in spring 2027, PM Burnham recently accelerated the start date of these rules to January 2027.

Two regulators, two timelines, similar requirements: cancelling has to be as easy as signing up. If you’re navigating how to create an experience that complies, Chargebee can help. Customers can cancel their subscriptions directly through Self-Serve Portals. You get the flexibility to configure exactly how to handle cancellations: whether to issue credits for unused time, whether to bill the final period in full or prorate it, and how to resolve outstanding invoices or credits.

Make it easy for your customers to cancel while you stay compliant. Try Chargebee for free today: https://t.co/m9qdfgjj9E

AI agents have made it possible to build a generational software company with a team of one. However, bringing that product to market and transforming it into a thriving, scalable business remains a significant challenge for modern founders.

We’re partnering with @tinyhumansai to bring Chargebee’s billing and monetization infrastructure directly into OpenCompany.

By embedding Chargebee capabilities into the OpenCompany stack, autonomous agents and solo builders can move from code to pricing, invoicing, and scaling growth without changing systems.

As thousands of builders create autonomous software companies, we're proud to provide the revenue foundation that powers their journey from first commit to global scale.

The one-person company stack is coming together.

Forty years ago, the telecom industry faced a massive infrastructure problem: when a phone call traversed multiple carriers and switches, no single company could calculate what the call actually cost to deliver. ☎️

They didn't solve it by building a massive centralized billing engine. They solved it by agreeing on an open data standard.

Fast forward to 2026: AI companies face the exact same challenge with agentic workflows. 🤖📊

When a single agent run touches an orchestration harness, executes tool calls across sandboxes, and routes tokens across multiple models, your usage data becomes deeply fragmented. The result? Every AI company can chart their revenue, but almost no one can chart their actual unit margins per customer.

We're grateful to the teams at @merge_api, @mastra, @tinyhumansai, and others for their thoughtful early feedback — and a special thanks to @MTSlive for featuring the launch.

How AUDR solves the agentic unit economics puzzle:
🧩 Unified Telemetry: Captures raw usage across LLM model calls (tokens, cache reads, reasoning) AND tool executions (sandboxes, API calls, retrieval).

🔗 Distributed Merge Keys: Pairs run_id and span_id so sinks can seamlessly assemble observations across harnesses, routers, and providers.

🏷️ Account Attribution: Binds infrastructure consumption directly to customer account_id and environment dimensions for downstream rating. We’re working on adapters for NVIDIA NeMo Relay, Merge Gateway, Mastra, OpenRouter, Vercel eve, among others.
