@EddieComeaux@GlobalSportMtrs It makes me sad that black students/athletes and coaches are still being harassed due to their race. The NCAA should take initiative and make some form of change to protect the rights of people of color.I was saddened to hear that black students are surveillanced more that others
@EddieComeaux@GlobalSportMtrs I like the recommendation that institutions ought to collect data on experience by race/ethnicity, gender, and sports type. I believe that’ll impact athletic personnels’ awareness on the hidden issues on anti-blackness and help them rethink how they can become more accommodating.
@EddieComeaux@GlobalSportMtrs The NCAA can undo some of the anti-blackness in education by not allowing – by any stretch – college athletic personnel to force athletes to give the weight of their attention to ‘athletics’ to the disadvantage of academics. School first, should be the policy – without exceptions
@EddieComeaux@GlobalSportMtrs Life after college as an athlete can be very puzzling for most because the goal is to play professionally. In reality, that is not the case for most which leaves an emptiness when graduating. Therefore, creating support centers and checking on their mental health is essential.
@EddieComeaux@GlobalSportMtrs Black athletes should not be treated as commodities for higher institutions.Playing seasons can be physically/mentally hard for athletes and should be allowed to take less than 12 credits. I def. feel like this initiative would help balance academic success.

@barbbsbb @besavageee Yes I agree coaches have too much power over their players. Players are real people. Players are working hard to represent their school and still being treated badly. This class made me realize that student athletes have little control. #ucr150@besavageee
College athletics has its pros and cons. Sports are supposed to provide competion, exercise, and support for the school. Racism is a HUGE problem in college athletics especially for black students. Racism should not get in the way of college sports. #ucr150@besavageee
The NCAA has been around for a long time. Besides "protecting" its students, the NCAA has been involved in many lawsuits which proves that the NCAA has done a poor job protecting its students. #ucr150@besavageee
@barbbsbb @besavageee I feel like the NCAA as steered away from the original definition of amateurism. Since college athletics make a lot of revenue for the school, the NCAA probably views these students as another way to make money. #ucr150@besavageee
@barbbsbb @besavageee I agree that the 4-4 rule is another way to control athletes. It makes me wish that athletes had more academic freedom. There is so much that goes on to pursue a role in college athletics that I still don't know about. #ucr150@besavageee
This week we learned about the 4-4 transfer rule. It made me realize that transferring is harder than it sounds. As a community college transfer student I can understand the pain of switching schools. Do community college athletes follow the same rules? #ucr150@besavageee
IN 1995, the NCAA informed colleges that they must create their own concussion plan for all of its sports. The NCAA wants colleges to provide a safe environment for all athletes but that is easier said than done. #ucr150@besavageee

@barbbsbb @besavageee I feel like the NCAA will never own up to the problems athletes are dealing with. It is a big corporation and they mainly care about the money than their athletes well being. Injuries are just one example of a situation that is not taken seriously by the NCAA #ucr150@besavageee
Here is a link Title IX at UCR. Students are not educated on this topic. There should be more explanation of Title IX inside/outside the classroom, especially for athletes. College athletics is just one key factor Title IX focuses on. #ucr150@besavageee
