A video posted to social media and enhanced by The Washington Post shows a person running across a roof overlooking the courtyard at Utah Valley University where conservative activist Charlie Kirk had been fatally shot seconds earlier.

Tanner Maxwell, a business school student at the university, was filming the crowd gathered to hear Kirk speak. Across the courtyard was a campus building called the Losee Center. “Right when I hit the camera is when I heard the shot go off,” Maxwell told The Post.

The footage circulated widely Wednesday evening, with a figure on the Losee Center roof barely visible. Zoomed in and stabilized, the footage shows a person who appears to be in dark clothing running for approximately two seconds before going out of frame as the camera pans. The roof is roughly 140 yards from where Kirk had just been shot.

After the shooting, other video footage shows yellow police tape cordoning off the area where the individual was seen running. A small group of police officers is nearby. University spokeswoman Ellen Treanor said late Wednesday that “the shot came from the direction of the Losee Center.”
