I was lined up to be VP for my college @TPUSA chapter this semester. Deniedโbecause Iโm over 26. As a non-trad student grinding through psych classes while running my businesses in CT, I thought my real-world experience would be a strength. But nope, age cap trumps all.
I spend a lot of time in my college classes researching and writing about the ethics of AI and its potential for bias The only thing that I can say for certain is that we need @elonmusk to be the winner of the AI race.
๐จRoss Coulthart BOMBSHELL: "The White house are briefing religious leaders for UFO Disclosure to prepare the people for ontological shock" ๐ฝ๐ธ๐ฑ
"They are preparing to tell the public - We are not alone"
He says the Trump administration is soliciting advice about how to tell the public we are not alone. White House officials are consulting religious leaders on the ontological shock of disclosure. Coulthart has spoken with administration insiders and warns the bigger shock would be the betrayal of trust if the government doesn't follow through and tell the whole story.
@rubencristiano9@spookysecretguy@atrupar Wow the first person Iโve seen who actually understands that everything we rely on is constructed based on someone elseโs interpretation that everyone else went along with. I donโt get the math but who cares itโs actually cheaper.
I could build the project myself but the course requires building a team of students from different disciplines. These professors are still holding their students back.
Im a psyche student minoring in AI and developing an AI pipeline that will detect mental states in near real time for a capstone like project. I went to talk to professors of the CS department to recruit 2 students to assist with the project.
After I walked out I overheard one of the professors say โI have no interest in supporting the AI programโ
@Codie_Sanchez I worked in a garage and owned a construction company and I can guarantee you when things change faster than they can grasp, they are not going to be happy. I saw it when teslas started coming out and techs had no idea how to work on it and were too stubborn to get training.
It was inspiring to watch the Artemis II launch yesterday โ @NASAโs first crewed mission around the moon since 1972. Our space program has always captured an essential part of what it means to reach beyond what we thought was possible, and I hope the four brave astronauts on this mission will inspire a new generation to follow in their footsteps.
AI will help discover new science, such as cures for diseases, which is perhaps the most important way to increase quality of life long-term.
AI will also present new threats to society that we have to address. No company can sufficiently mitigate these on their own; we will need a society-wide response to things like novel bio threats, a massive and fast change to the economy, extremely capable models causing complex emergent effects across society, and more.
These are the areas the OpenAI Foundation will initially focus on, and in my opinion are some of the most important ones for us to get right. The Foundation will spend at least $1 billion over the next year.
@woj_zaremba, co-founder of OpenAI, will transition to Head of AI Resilience. I believe that shifting how the world thinks about safety to include a Resilience-style approach is critical, and I am extremely grateful to Wojciech for taking on this role.
Wojciech has been my cofounder for the last decade; anyone who knows him will understand what I mean when I say he is one of a kind. He has a lot of ideas about how we build a new kind of AI safety.
@JacobTref is joining as Head of Life Sciences and Curing Diseases.
@annaadeola, our VP of Global Impact, will transition to Head of AI for Civil Society and Philanthropy.
@robert_kaiden is joining as Chief Financial Officer.
@jeffarnold is joining as Director of Operations.
