We enjoyed meeting with our MP Richard Cannings @CanningsNDP today, learning about his new roles in Parliament and the discussing challenges and opportunities of climate solutions.
Some of our members met with Parliamentary Secretary for the Environment and MLA for Richmond-Steveston, Kelly Greene. Thanks @KellyRichmondBC for taking the time to meet with us last Friday!
So nice to meet with MLA @BrittnyAnderso about our concerns about the #ClimateCrisis. We are fortunate that she shares them. We were joined with other constituents from @ClimateBC
@ClimateReality The lockdown has done good things for cutting down emissions but we really could be focusing on regulating our current systems. Water needs to be protected for our future
@GretaThunberg If we start with a basic reform of our industries we can rebuild our future. Let's make a base off our current laws, cleaning up affected communities like mount Polley, and build from there.
Some of this is the future but a lot of it is right here and now!
Today, the youth have organized a rally at Nelson City Hall to stand with the Wet'suwet'en to ensure that lives, rights, and land are respected.

A full year ago plus a day, the Rod and Gun club had people standing out in the cold to hear about the potential clear cut around our beloved Cottonwood Lake.
Today, that community that banded together has some great news!

I asked the PM about the PBO finding that the Trans Mountain pipeline was losing money, not making a profit. He answered by saying what he will spend the profits on. Sigh.
Laurel Collins and I received or letters from #OurTime2019. Good to see so much in common with the NDP platform for tackling the climate crisis. We’ll work to end oil and gas subsidies, invest in green technologies, respect UNDRIP, and create good jobs across Canada.
Despite this move from the executive branch, the legislative branch is still grappling with #climatechange and working on solutions. @RepTedDeutch & @RepRooney have put forth a robust #PriceOnPolllution bill, which 67 of their colleagues have cosponsored. https://t.co/TrP6lPZq5v
“We are taking this issue to the Supreme Court of Canada not only to stand up for our inherent and constitutionally protected rights, but also to make sure that Canada follows their own laws when making decisions,” said Leah Sisi-ya-ama George-Wilson

"Proposed reforms to B.C.’s mining act are a positive step but taxpayers are still on the hook for costly clean-up costs, according to Calvin Sandborn, legal director of the University of Victoria’s Environmental Law Centre."

I’m a climate scientist. I’m also an evangelical Christian.
And I’m Canadian, which is why it took me so long to realize the first two things were supposed to be entirely incompatible. https://t.co/qfI4gAjYEZ
Proud to join Minister @GeorgeHeyman and Leader @AJWVictoriaBC to support the governments new climate accountability and transparency legislation. The first test of a government’s commitment to climate change is having a plan, one that puts us on course to cut pollution... 1/
Strong climate leadership, a clear plan and accountability – that’s our commitment with #CleanBC. Today we delivered with a new bill making climate change accountability the law.
