Sometimes you have to blend into your environment to find the real problem drivers. Here we can see a castle blending into other houses in a school zone and the vehicle caught in the “speed moat” for 67/25 mph.

School Zone Traffic Safety is as easy as:
1. Leave early so you don't feel the need to speed
2. Know where to go, so you don't do u-turns
3. Parking: No red zones, 20' from x-walks, 15' from fire hydrants, don't block driveways
And always drive as if every student is your own
Tragically, on October 14, 2024, a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle on North Rancho Drive near Torrey Pines, claimed the life of the motorcyclist. Investigations indicate that excessive speed by the motorcycle rider played a significant role in this crash. This marks the 123rd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2024.
We urge everyone to please slow down and drive carefully—speeding can have devastating consequences.
@lvmpdtraffic Sgt. Stu Richmond shares more about the investigation.
