@Joannie_Watson@OVTweetmarck Well, ok, there was one men’s prayer group that I did enjoy and made some friends, but that was when I was single, and I was the youngest one there.
@Joannie_Watson@OVTweetmarck I have yet to find a men’s ministry that I’ve liked, so I’m definitely not going at 6:30 AM on Saturday. Some have felt kind of superficial football coach like, and it’s unappealing to me. I’ll just go to daily Mass with my wife.
@FrHilderbrand@OVTweetmarck I don’t think that would be for me. I rarely drink alcohol and have never smoked anything in my life. Now, you might have me if you have good coffee.
@BeSaintly I was in Rome last week and did see the listening spaces. I don’t know what the are doing with them, but they are there. However, the Confessionals were very much still in operation. I only remember lines to go to Confession, not the listening spaces.
I won’t mention names here, but it bothers me to see someone I’ve enjoyed reading here make an overly harsh and critical comment about another person on here that I like. We really should be careful how we treat others trying to do good work and teach the Faith and not bash them.
@FrTotleben92742 @RachelKloess Oh, how I wish you could come to where I live and explain that to a few priests here who don’t seem to understand this. I’m 30 minutes away from every parish with a 7 AM Mass. Fortunately, there’s one parish that is good about this.
Priests who deny someone Communion because that person is in public sin or causing serious public scandal are the most Christ-like of priests. They are willing to face public rejection and possible discipline from their bishop because they care so much about that person's soul.
A spammer texted me to ask if I wanted to break his/her heart and ignore his text. I really don't want to break a heart, so I didn't ignore it. I reported it as spam.
I completely agree! I also don’t believe most people are “called to marriage” like they would be to priesthood or religious life. Most people not called to a celibate vocation should assume their vocation is marriage. It’s kind of the default.
Sorry, regardless of what Francis or anyone else said, there isn't in Catholic tradition a "vocation" to single life.
There are vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life; and to marriage. It is very common, and not sinful at all, for people to just remain single, for a vast variety of reasons. But they must always remain open to one of the vocations.
"I feel called to single life" sounds ridiculous.

@FrTotleben92742 Social media barely recognizes the existence of GenX. However, we do exist and even know how to use computers and smart devices. In fact, I learned how on good ol’ DOS in the mid-1980s.
@FrTotleben92742 With this being said, as a Catholic and as a pharmacist, it bothers me a lot to see a number of Catholics, or just conservatives, well known or not, seem to believe things like antivax stuff or homeopathy.
@FrTotleben92742 Well, maybe sometimes the best argument against someone’s position is made by letting him state it just as he thinks it. Not saying that’s what Mr Knowles is doing, though.
@FrTotleben92742 I’m still expecting to hear a few prayers for “Frleo Our Pope” or “Franleo Our Pope.” If I were a priest, I’d probably do something like that a few times.
@middletondrew28@trad_west_ If you look through the Bible, God used human leaders like Moses, Joshua, and the Judges and prophets all through the Old Testament. Jesus then called 12 Apostles and sent them to preach after ascending into Heaven. Why would it be different now?
