Thomas Weir Pauken II, 50, an American citizen who lived and worked in the People’s Republic of China (PRC), pleaded guilty today to acting as an agent of a foreign government within the U.S.

“Pauken admitted to being part of a conspiracy to obtain sensitive information from the U.S. government for the PRC,” said Assistant Attorney General John A. Eisenberg. “His actions are a betrayal of this Nation and pose an unacceptable risk to our national security. NSD remains committed to safeguarding information essential to our national security, including through appropriate prosecution.”

ICYMI: A @DHSgov Inspector General report found no evidence that detainees at @ICEgov Washington Field Office holding facility in Chantilly, Virginia, were denied food or drinking water or housed in overcrowded conditions during a 2025 inspection period.

Investigators found ICE staff met requirements for meals, water, facility capacity, and average detention times—and in some cases exceeded standards by providing access to showers and telephones.

However, the report did identify instances where some detainees were held beyond the agency’s 72-hour detention requirement.

Drivers trapped in the backup stared from their windows, whispers rippling through the stalled lines. What happened here? A failed hit? Something left behind? Or worse—something still ticking inside?

Hours dragged on under the gathering dusk, but answers remained scarce. No owner identified. No witnesses coming forward. Just the sedan, hollowed out and waiting, as the bomb techs worked in tense silence, the weight of the unknown pressing down on everyone.
