A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.β -Greek Proverb
I follow people that I agree/disagree with, people I find interesting, curious even, but I sometimes wonder what the future will hold, tree planters are far and few...
@BBCAfrica Did you report on this? Sporong - Where 300 South African families were forced to flee because of zama zamas, mainly illegal foreigners have threatened and intimidated the people? IF you have a reporter in SA ask them to go to Atok in Limpopo, same story
https://t.co/E86u2CIAC3
@SimplyMegszcpt The short answer is distrust in politicians. For March & March, they believe the momentum will be lost without continued pressure and since they widely communicated that they will be protest, so they are doing what they said they would do.
@SimplyMegszcpt The genie is out of the bottle. At the beginning of 2026 300 families were forced to flee because of zama-zamas mostly illegal foreigners. A South African community harassed, terrorised. Didnt make a blimp on the radar.
When people are not visible they are not heard.
@PresidencyZA@CyrilRamaphosa Inter-ministerial committee to engage businesses, big and small to find out why the current environment is not conducive to job creation?
And then we asked with all our blue light brigades why unskilled workers have to fork out 50% of their income on transport?
@VusiSambo Biggest government ever with the least value for money.
They use youth unemployment stats as if it some sort of achievement. The same way they do their blitz campaigns talking about the poorest of the poor but they dont give a hoot. No inter ministerial task team on employment.
@Newzroom405 Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP): R16.62 per hour
South Africa's National Minimum Wage (NMW) is R30.23 per ordinary hour
This XXXXL gov can create an environment for job creation -look at transport cost.
Working passenger rail network. Time and money.
@ReutersAfrica Here's a plot twist. How about shining that bright light into the leaders of the countries where the illegal immigrants are from. Malawi, who's president is currently in South Africa for a medical check up while 7000 of his people are waiting for busses to take them back.
@GovernmentZA Do you have any interventions to
1. Train drivers.
2. Provide a rent-to-own motorcycle financing program.
Have you or department of Labour, Monitoring given any thought to this. 7000 jobs at Shoprite alone is being done by foreigners, why?
@pedvr Please can someone educate these people who break our immigration act as well as the people that employ them in contravention of said immigration act?
@DrTedros Who wrote this malarky for you? You are making it sound like marching to parliament is a criminal offence in this democracy? If you are concerned about people who are breaking our laws please bring your cheque book and make arrangements for them to go home.
@MorningLiveSABC Will there be an Inter-Ministerial Committee on unemployment as well?
Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi forced a hearing on SAPS to get it fixed.
March&March forced discharging of duty to act on illegal immigration.
What pressure is needed to force unemployment front and centre?
@NeilColemanSA Since you mention your struggle credentials. Why not compare this to the 1989 Defiance strike that was both illegal and during a state of emergency. March&March called for a stay away/strike for 30 June with peaceful marches, that are legal. Have you even looked at root causes?
@motsohi_thabang The question is now how do you get the other depts working as well. Labour, trade and industry, small bus dev. All of them should be engaging to stimulate local jobs. We have the biggest gov in history with the lowest benefit to the citizens
