As networks scale, visibility is becoming a harder problem for SOC and NOC teams.
I was glad to be quoted in @NiagaraNetw's launch of ePacketron, its new 600 Gbps Network Intelligence platform.
Packet processing and traffic optimization are moving closer to the visibility layer — a shift we see as increasingly important for modern, AI-driven infrastructure.
Congrats to the Niagara Networks team on the launch.

@Cisco referenced @650Group's SONiC research in its latest post, and it lines up with what we’re hearing from customers.
SONiC is becoming a much more practical conversation in data center networking — especially around openness, automation and operational consistency.
Our forecast: SONiC data center switching revenue doubles from 2025 to 2027 to $8B.

Always valuable to compare notes with @AlanWeckel — especially from the show floor at this month's #ExtremeConnect2026.
We unpack @ExtremeNetworks' AI strategy, the push toward more autonomous networking and the customer conversations that stood out most.

@ExtremeNetworks Connect was a good reminder that Wi-Fi innovation is still moving fast.
One takeaway: strong excitement around Extreme’s Wi-Fi 7 portfolio expansion, including nine new access points across the Wi-Fi 7 product area.
For a company that has been in the market a long time, that’s a meaningful signal that the access layer remains a key area of investment.

@ExtremeNetworks Connect 2026 reinforced a theme we’re watching closely at @650Group: enterprise networking is moving toward more autonomous operations.
Extreme’s Agent ONE, Platform ONE enhancements and expanded Wi-Fi 7 portfolio all point in that direction.
Customer validation stood out too: simpler troubleshooting, single-pane management and the ability to manage more devices with fewer IT resources.

James Chen of MediaTek (at the Wi-Fi NOW show today) showed how the company’s Wireless-Fi 8 platform has demonstrated its DSO capability, which leverages an ‘old’ Wi-Fi 6 smartphone using an early version of its own Wi-Fi 8 smartphone to get superior throughput. The idea here is that MediaTek Wi-Fi 8 can do-exist with older Wi-Fi types to get better throughput.

pitched its HaLow mesh capability and specific verticals: building management (think HVAC, door locks, lighting), energy (solar management, pipeline anomoly detection), and retail (like Electronic Shelf Labels and inventory management). About mesh: I was blown away when that the company has demonstrated a mesh 37 deep to 100 kbps. Or in a different scenario, a repeater setup along a highway, could potentially reach ‘forever,’ assuming there are numerous repeaters.

Kelly Peralta of @gateworkscorp, US-based manufacturer who sells worldwide spoke about the differences between using HaLow in the EU and the US, concluding that HaLow is still the best in Europe (despite stringent regulations). She also said order intake is ‘crossing the chasm.’

Andy McFarlane of @MorseMicro explained that HaLow type of Wi-Fi is the fourth lane of Wi-Fi while he presented at @wifinowevents event today. Andy’s presentation follow my own, where we shared our thoughts on HaLow, too. I think we agreed (and his slides are nicer)!

One of the clearest messages from @MediaTek's 2026 Analyst Day: data center is now the priority.
The company is pushing into 448G SerDes, die-to-die interconnect, CPC and CPO, while making the case that optics become necessary beyond 400G.

AI dominated the conversation at #RSAC 2026, but the rise of agents in cybersecurity may be the more important shift.
Vendors are moving quickly to define AI-driven SecOps, SASE, Zero Trust and NetSecOps.

@nokia's Aurelis for Data Centers reflects a broader shift toward simpler, greener, fiber-based architecture for data center operations.
Using PON for OOBM is a smart approach to reducing space, power and cost as AI and cloud workloads expand.

AI is forcing a rethink of enterprise security infrastructure.
In my latest blog, I look at how @CatoNetworks is leveraging @nvidia technology to enhance its security services by embedding GPU compute across its global SASE PoPs.
The bigger takeaway: security platforms are starting to evolve their underlying architectures to both secure AI and use AI to strengthen security operations.
We look forward to discussing this more with the Cato team at RSA.
