@kgormanedu I loved reading this part of the article too! I think when you teach similar things together, it almost makes more sense to students, as opposed to teaching skills separately. However, it also makes me wonder if this is something that every student would be ready for?
#KSUECE4410#Booksnap5 Book Snap Time! After reading this article, I am beginning to wonder what other literacy skills could be introduced to students at a younger age, in addition to morphemic analysis!
@CeciliaPerezKSU I agree! It is important to teach students about real world injustices & help them learn that they can stand up and do something to make a difference. It also teaches them that it is okay to disagree with something they are reading & pushes them to state their reasons as to why.
#KSUECE4410#booksnapweek5 This week's reading as very inspiring, as it talked about introducing students to social injustices through literature and empowering them to make a difference!
@KirklandCiara That is awesome that you have gotten to see some of what we read about this week happening in the classroom. Do the students read aloud and record themselves as well? I feel like that would be very helpful for a teacher to play back and hear student reading to assess fluency.
BookSnap #3! This article was full of great ideas on how to incorporate digital apps in the classroom to help teachers assess student understanding! #KSUECE4410#Booksnap3
@mrsebuchanan12 I think collaboration is an important aspect of learning as well! Not only does it allow students to bounce ideas off of each other & talk through their thought process, but it also allows them to hear content being explained by their peers in addition to their teacher.
@mrsebuchanan12 Thanks for highlighting this! This really put into perspective for me how we have the ability to make an impact on students' literacy skills that they will take with them far beyond our classroom walls. Focusing on these skills at a young age helps them succeed in their futures.
