Food, fun & freedom. Thank you to our incredible CDF UK Youth for showing up and showing out.
Beyond the food and fun a powerful message rang true, as the future of Zimbabwe our youth must remain conscious of their country's political landscape because understanding it is the first step to defending it.
Special appreciation to John Burke of ZHRO for their continued support of CDFs' campaigns we see you and we're grateful.
Young voices, stronger together.

For many Zimbabweans vending is not a lifestyle preference. It is a form of economic agency in circumstances of constrained choice.
For CDF, the 7-day ultimatum issued to vendors raises serious constitutional questions. To what extent does it enhance a sustainable, just and democratic society in which people enjoy prosperous, happy and fulfilling lives?
To what extent, is it fair, reasonable and justifiable in a democratic society founded on justice, fairness, human dignity, equality and freedom?
To what extent does it empower the disenfranchised and already struggling members of our society particularly women and youths?
The informality of a livelihood does not make the people engaged in it disposable.

We strongly condemn the Government’s directive for vendors and informal traders operating outside designated areas to vacate their trading sites by 9 September 2026, ahead of a nationwide clean-up operation. We call for policies that protect livelihoods and promote dignity.
🚨RIZPAH DAY MOMENT OF SILENCE🚨
At 2:00 PM on Friday, 28 August — RIZPAH DAY — we call upon Zimbabwe to fall silent for one minute.
At approximately this hour, the Mbuya Nehanda ferry capsized on Lake Kariba, taking with it the lives of our fellow citizens.
Wherever you are — at home, at work, in the streets, in the fields or in prayer — stop for one minute.
Let the nation be still.
Let us remember the lives lost.
Let us stand with the bereaved families.
Let us affirm the dignity of every Zimbabwean life.
2:00 PM. ONE NATION. ONE MINUTE OF SILENCE.
WEAR BLACK. STAY AWAY. PRAY. REMEMBER.

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE CONVENOR OF SUNGANO YEVANHU – UBUMBANO LOMPHAKATHI
THE PEOPLE'S COALITION
FOR THE PEOPLE – IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
Date: 24 July 2026
Brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, young people of Zimbabwe—
Good day.
I address you in a somber moment when we have lost members of the Executive of Highlanders Football Club. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, friends and the entire Highlanders family. We pray that God grants comfort, strength and peace to all those mourning this painful loss.
Our country is in a new UDI moment. On 7 July 2026, a small group of powerful people declared their own independence—independence from our Constitution. They tore up our rule book and replaced it with their own law, Act No. 6. Just like the old UDI, a minority is now trying to rule over the majority. But this time, the faces look like ours. This is a constitutional coup.
Our Peaceful Response
From the very first day, we said NO. We chose the path of peace and law.
1. We went to COURT
Our lawyers filed strong cases before the Constitutional Court. We are challenging this unconstitutional Act on several grounds: the failure to follow constitutional procedures, violations of the President's constitutional oath, and the erosion of fundamental constitutional rights. The cases are before the courts, and we have confidence that justice will prevail through the proper constitutional process.
2. We spoke to the NATION
We held press conferences. We launched the YELLOW CARD CAMPAIGN—a peaceful national warning that those who refuse to play by the constitutional rules risk losing the confidence of the people. We continue to consult widely, engaging traditional leaders, churches, labour, students, civic organisations and communities across Zimbabwe.
3. A Historic Shift Towards Citizen-Led Democratic Action
Sungano YeVanhu – Ubumbano Lomphakathi (The People's Coalition) acknowledges the citizen-led call for a peaceful national stay-away on 31 July in protest against Constitutional Amendment Act No. 6.
The Coalition recognises this citizen-led, decentralised initiative as a legitimate expression of popular sovereignty. It represents a significant development in Zimbabwe's democratic culture, where citizens increasingly organise themselves peacefully to exercise their constitutional rights.
Citizens are entitled to exercise their constitutional freedoms peacefully and in accordance with the law.
However, for the avoidance of doubt, while we support every citizen's constitutional right to peaceful expression under Section 59 of the Constitution and the Constitution generally, Sungano YeVanhu – Ubumbano Lomphakathi, its leaders and constituent member institutions did not organise, convene or call for any activity scheduled for 31 July.
Citizens remain free to exercise their constitutional rights peacefully and lawfully, including choosing to remain at home with their families and loved ones.
We further encourage all citizens to conduct themselves peacefully, responsibly and with respect for the rights and freedoms of others, including those who may choose not to participate.
Their Response: Threats and Lies
Because we have chosen truth and constitutionalism, our response has been met with intimidation.
Bhekimpilo Mbedzi remains incarcerated on what we believe are frivolous grounds. Members of ZINASU continue appearing before the courts under equally questionable circumstances.
We have also witnessed:
Threats against one of our leaders involving a parcel containing dog waste accompanied by a message promising that "next time the parcel will explode";
The vandalism of the signboard at the Convenor's workplace, accompanied by obscene and threatening messages;
Persistent rumours of arrests based on fabricated allegations; and
A coordinated campaign of misinformation claiming that because the law has been gazetted, citizens have no constitutional options remaining.
This is false.
@daddyhope@MacBelts
We are deeply saddened by the news of the untimely passing of Kelvin Bhonzo who died for simply standing by his political beliefs.
The right to life is sacrosanct. Any unlawful deprivation of this right, either by private individuals or by State agents, should be met with the outright contempt that such objectionable conduct deserves.
His killing recalls the tragic deaths of Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya and Tinashe Edson Chitsunge, both of whom were killed for expressing dissenting views.

CAA3 IS NOT THE END OF THE ROAD
The Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) has noted attempts by some quarters to create the false impression that because the President has assented to Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 (CAA3), the matter is now closed.
That is simply not correct.
In any constitutional democracy, the enactment of legislation does not, by itself, extinguish all lawful and constitutional avenues of challenge. Zimbabwe's constitutional framework provides mechanisms through which laws and constitutional processes may continue to be scrutinised and challenged where appropriate.
We therefore urge Zimbabweans not to be misled by the weekend CAA3 celebrations or by repeated claims that "it is a done deal." Those celebrations are political events, they do not determine whether all constitutional remedies have been exhausted.
Indeed, if the matter were truly beyond question, why is there such a persistent campaign to convince Zimbabweans that it is over? The answer is simple: the struggle for constitutionalism continues.
CDF remains unwavering in its commitment to peacefully and lawfully exhaust every constitutional avenue available in defence of the Constitution and the sovereignty of the people.
To every Defender: do not lose hope. Do not be discouraged. Do not be swayed by propaganda. The signing of CAA3 is not the end of the journey, it marks the beginning of the next constitutional phase.
Stand firm. Stay united. Stay peaceful. Stay vigilant.
The Constitution belongs to the people, and its defence remains our collective responsibility.
CDF will continue to pursue every lawful constitutional remedy available.
Defenders, remain rooted. The struggle for constitutionalism continues.

We note with concern the persistent maternal health crisis that has remained unresolved for decades. Inspite of Zimbabwe celebrating 46 years of Independence, most women still do not have access to basic maternal health care. Read our statement below:
Zimbabwean women have always been the backbone of our families, communities and nation. Your voice, courage and leadership are indispensable in defending our Constitution and shaping Zimbabwe's future.
Join the Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) and become part of a growing movement of women committed to constitutionalism, justice and accountability. Together, we can educate, mobilise and defend the rights and freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.

#FairPlay Sunday: Argentina vs Spain
We all know the debates that light up our group chats. We have those that support Messi; we have others that believe FIFA favors Argentina. It’s a fierce, passionate debate.
But while we argue over a referee's subjective decision on a pitch in America, we are ignoring a massive, objective foul right here at home.
Through #CAB3, the game has been changed to suit a select few.
We voted this government into office based on a specific set of rules. #FairPlay means playing by those rules and stepping down in 2028. Unilaterally extending a term limit to 2030 is the ultimate unsporting conduct. It’s a blatant foul on the citizens of Zimbabwe.
This Sunday, as Argentina takes on Spain, the world will be watching. Let’s use the global stage to send a domestic message.
🟨 The Yellow Card Campaign 🟨
We are calling on every citizen to blow the whistle.
Step 1: Get a yellow card. Cut out a piece of yellow paper, use a yellow card from a game, or keep a bright yellow image ready on your phone screen.
Step 2: This Sunday, during the match, whether you are at a local bar, home with family, or watching with friends, raise your yellow card.
Step 3: Take a photo holding your yellow card and post it online with the hashtags:
#FairPlay
#NoTo2030
#WeThePeople
FIFA referees have the power to caution players. But #WeThePeople have the ultimate power to caution our leaders.
This Sunday, blow the whistle. Show the yellow card. Demand absolute #FairPlay in our country.
