@WheelofTACO@Kberg43@OutOfTheVines The cubs winning proves ball doesn’t lie. This was an awful call based on interpretation of a bad rule to begin with. This is obstruction and forcing a players hand off a bag on a free base.
@WheelofTACO@Kberg43@OutOfTheVines Funniest part about this comment is the rulebook doesn’t actually define this exact play. A fielders glove making contact with a runner being awarded a free base causing his hand to pop off bag. There literally isn’t a rule for that play. It’s all interpretation. Which was awful
@knowerofball05@KC_Kopec@Ephilly34@awfulannouncing You can’t touch a base runner that is being awarded a free base. Especially in a way that forces his hand or body part off the bag to try and record an “out”. It’s not in the spirit of the rule or game and mlb will address it
@knowerofball05@KC_Kopec@Ephilly34@awfulannouncing You can’t force a runners hand off the bag on a free base. Please let me know when that is legal. Until then he was safe. And in no way was that the spirit of the rule/or sport. This was a no brainer that the umps overthought
@WheelofTACO@Kberg43@OutOfTheVines Not to mention this is in no way the spirit of the rule or the sport in general. Awful hill to die on. Ball doesn’t lie either, cubs won
@WinstonHoward@LewickiMike@ScoringChanges This is such a clear explanation and people will still argue. And not to mention this call is no way in the spirit of the rules or baseball in general. Awful look for MLB
@balkwhisperer@Brett_A_Taylor The call is not correct. The tag is obstruction and did not allow PCA access to his free base. That caused his hand to come off bag. MLB will review and make clear rule on this
@balkwhisperer@ProspectMetrics A defender can’t impede or obstruct a runner going to a free base. Otherwise they could just tackle players and not let them get to a base. Completely incorrect
@CoachKwall31@Kberg43@KolidaPaul@ScoringChanges You can’t obstruct with a runner on a free base. That cause PCA to come off bag. Incorrect call and MLB will review and fix this from ever happening again
