The Trust Summit 2026 is Officially Underway!

We are deeply honored to welcome distinguished leaders- @CJMarthaKoome , Head of Public Service @koske_felix , and PS @SingoeiAKorir - as they arrive in Nairobi for the opening of The Trust Summit 2026.

Their presence underscores a shared commitment across government, judiciary, and civil society to pull up a seat at the table, act in good faith, and collaborate on this year’s theme: “Weaving Trust for a Stronger Global Order.”

Trust is an economic asset, not a moral soft skill. The four arenas defining the new global order:
• Public Institutions & Rule of Law
• International Cooperation
• AI & Information Integrity
• Market Growth & Capital

We need to fix the trust deficit or watch the system stall. ~@Uwihanganye_A #TrustSummit #GlobalGovernance #TechPolicy

(2/2) So let me return to Sofia’s question. Who do you trust? And I'll leave you with an invitation: let us trust one another until we have a reason not to, and work hard to give each other no such reason.

Our founder @Uwihanganye_A delivered opening remarks during the #TrustSummit2026 as the CEO of the Trust Summit. A key takeaway: Trust is not a feeling. It is a conscious decision we make about one another —
and its value grows every time we keep our word and mean what we say.

30 days. One non-negotiable imperative: Re-engineer global trust.

No ceremonial talk shops, no polite consensus. In 30 days, diplomats, policy architects, and market leaders assemble in Nairobi to construct binding safeguards across four core arenas:
- Multilateralism: Sovereign cooperation built on delivery.
- Governance: Rebuilding institutional legitimacy and the social contract.
- Economic Assets: Removing the mistrust premium on capital and trade.
- Digital Integrity: Defending public truth and information ecosystems in the AI era.

Diagnosis is over, execution now begins. Register now: https://t.co/5JhdkboR3R

Today marked the first of eight Pre-Summit Roundtables on the road to The Trust Summit 2026 this October. Trust is not a soft sentiment; it is a hard economic asset sitting directly on a nation's balance sheet, and today the private sector came ready to talk numbers, not just ideals.

Key Takeaways from the Session:

1. The Balance-Sheet Metric: Mr. Mustafa Ibrahim (Deputy Director-General, State Department for Foreign Affairs), speaking on behalf of PS Dr. Korir Sing'Oei, emphasized that institutional credibility dictates access to capital, market confidence, and long-term competitiveness.

2. The Low-Trust Tax: Prof. XN Iraki (UoN Faculty of Business and Management Science) quantified the cost of low trust: a direct economic drag that inflates spending on audits, red tape, and security while pushing interest rates up.

3. Institutional Multipliers: Eng. James Mwangi, EBS (Board Member, KEPSA): "Trust is not a soft value... it sits on the nation's balance sheet, as surely as its foreign reserves, its infrastructure, or its human capital." Mathias Kamp (Country Director, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung — a co-convener of The Trust Summit) added: "You can invest heavily in infrastructure, but if the institutions and businesses operating within it are not trusted, the infrastructure alone will not deliver the outcomes we expect."

4. Execution Over Consensus: Ms. Lucy Muchoki (Partnership Director, KNCCI) pushed the room past theory: "Let us move beyond simply agreeing that trust matters. Let us identify what needs to change and commit to where partnerships are required."

5. Last but definitely not least, Francis Kisirinya (COMESA Business Council Member) brought the regional lens: "When countries invest in each other, we create economic interdependence, and that interdependence is critical to building trust between our countries."

Thank you to KAS, IPF, the State Department for Foreign Affairs, KNCCI, KEPSA, Trade Mark Africa, Comesa Business Council, and to every speaker and delegate who brought their voice to the table today. These conversations feed directly into the Summit's Trust as an Economic Asset pillar. Seven roundtables to go.

Trust isn’t just a macro-financial metric dictating the cost of capital for African markets, it’s the basic confidence citizens need when buying everyday food and medicine. Our CEO, @Uwihanganye_A, wrapping up today’s Private Sector Roundtable ahead of October's Nairobi #TrustSummit2026 Dialogues.

See you on October 21–23.
