59 years ago today, Israel attacked the USS Liberty in international waters. 34 crew members were killed and 174 were wounded by the IDF.

Today, I spoke on the House floor to honor the fallen and to recognize the survivors who were present in the gallery.

Early semi-aquatic ancestors were still nursing on land or in shallows. A calf that could nurse for 30 seconds underwater instead of 20 had an advantage. Milk that was 8% fat instead of 6% in a shallow-water context had an advantage. None of these steps required the whole system to be in place. Each increment was viable on its own.
