為紀念 #世界人權日 的作品，在國際刑事法庭（ICC）用粉筆寫下上千個 #中國在押政治犯 的名字。

這些名字圍繞著Jorge Marín的雕塑Alas de Mexico（墨西哥之翼）。作為來自墨西哥政府的禮物，它在2019年於國際刑事法庭(ICC)落成。

雕塑成對翅膀的中間空無一物，其本意是由這對無身體的翅膀來象徵自由：作者Marin鼓勵人們在物理上去佔據那個空缺的身體位置。同時，我們的書寫使得同一片廣場上出現了政治犯們 #無身體的名字，以此提醒那些真正應該出現在此的 #別的身體。

我們沿雕塑台階寫下「習近平，應該在監獄的是你而不是…」，然後是上千個中國在押政治犯的名字。這些名字非但不能窮盡中國在押政治犯，甚至只佔總數字的滄海一粟。由於中國司法體系的高度不透明和政權的常態化報復，只有極少一部分的名字得以幸運地被外界證實和紀錄下來（包括被國際所熟知的 #伊力哈木土赫提、 #許志永、 #黃雪琴、 #阮曉寰），而大多數人只能不為人知地承受牢獄之災。

於是，雕塑的［翅膀-在場］對其自身［身體-空缺］的召喚，以及政治犯的［名字-在場］對習近平［身體-空缺］的召喚，以跨越政治背景的方式完成了一次關於自由和囚禁的根本性辯論。

Body Vacancy / 身體空缺

In commemoration of #HumanRightsDay, we wrote the names of over a thousand #ChinesePoliticalPrisoners in chalk at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

These names encircled Alas de Mexico (Wings of Mexico), a sculpture by Jorge Marín. Presented as a gift from the Mexican government, it was installed at the ICC in 2019.

The sculpture features a pair of wings with an empty space inbetween, symbolizing freedom. Marín invites people to physically occupy the vacant body position between the wings. Meanwhile, our writing brings to existence those #BodilessNames of political prisoners onto the same space, bringing attention to the physical presence of the #OtherBodies who truly belongs to here.

We began by writing on the sculpture’s steps: ‘XI JINPING, YOU SHOULD BE IN PRISON INSTEAD OF…’, followed by thousands of names of Chinese political prisoners. These names aren’t even close to encompassing all political prisoners in China, but representing only a tiny fraction. Due to the extreme opacity of China’s judicial system and the regime’s systemic retaliations, only a tiny portion of names have the fortune to be confirmed and recorded (including those internationally known figures #IlhamTohti, #XuZhiyong, #HuangXueqin, and #RuanXiaohuan). The majority suffer in silence, their identities unknown to the world.

In this way, the [wings-present] of the sculpture calling forth its own [body-absent], and the [names-present] of political prisoners calling forth the [body-absent] of Xi Jinping, together transcend political contexts to enact a fundamental debate on freedom and imprisonment.

2024年11月26日，在中國 #白紙運動 兩週年紀念日，我們逐漸用白紙覆蓋了自己和阿姆斯特丹萊茨廣場上的紀念碑Tegen alle stromen in。

Tegen alle stromen in（逆流而上）是一座由藝術家里尼·赫克曼斯（Rini Hurkmans）創作的紀念碑，旨在紀念荷蘭犯罪記者彼得·R·德弗里斯（Peter R. De Vries）。彼得於2021年7月被槍殺，紀念碑象徵著他為��助對抗不公正而需要援助的人所進行的奮鬥，以兩隻互相支撐的手為主體，代表彼此的支持與幫助。

紀念碑的兩隻手臂上，以41種語言刻寫了彼得·R·德弗里斯寫給孩子的告別信：「堅持本心….在被需要時挺身而出，勇敢為弱勢群體發聲，坦誠表達自己的想法，且聽從內心的正義感。將這些美好的堅守傳遞給下一代。那麼世界終將美好。」

兩年前的這一天，中國爆發了一場全國性的抗議運動，背景是長達三年的嚴苛清零政策。這場運動是自1989年天安門屠殺以來中國最大規模的抗議。抗議者手中的白紙不僅象徵了中國人民對審查制度的憤怒，也代表了他們對另一個群體——維吾爾人在同一政權統治下所遭受苦難的聲援。在抗議爆發的兩天前，清零政策導致了44名維吾爾人在 #烏魯木齊大火 中喪生。此後，至少數百名抗議者被捕，一些人至今仍未獲釋。

為無聲者發聲、為正義奮鬥的行動可能會帶來嚴重後果，甚至付出生命的代價，無論在何時何地。那麼，為什麼總有人願意冒險站出來，為他人的不公正而奮鬥？或許這是一個無法簡單地由紀念碑或白紙回答的問題。

Paper Hands / ��手

On 26th November, 2024, at two-year anniversary of China’s #WhitePaperProtest, we gradually covered both ourselves and the monument ‘Tegen alle stromen in’ with layers of blank sheets of paper.

Tegen alle stromen in (Counter all currents) is a monument on Leidseplein, Amsterdam, created by artist Rini Hurkmans, in memory of Peter R. De Vries, a dutch crime journalist murdered by gunshot in July 2021. The monument depicts two hands in touch, supporting for each other, carrying Peter R. De Vries’ struggle for people who needed help against injustice.

On the arms of two hands is written in 41 languages, de Vries’ farewell letter to his children: ‘Stay true to yourself... When necessary, stand up for the weak and minorities, speak your mind honestly and listen to your sense of justice. And pass that on to your children. Then all will be well’.

Two years ago on this date, a nation-wide protest broke out in China against the backdrop of 3-year strict zero-COVID policy, marking China’s largest protest since 1989 Tiananmen Massacre. Those blank sheets of paper held by protesters symbolizes not only for Chinese people’s anger towards censorship, but also their solidarity for the suffering of another group of people under the rule of the same regime, the Uyghurs - Two days before the outbreak of the protest, the zero-COVID policy took the lives of 44 Uyghurs during the #ÜrümqiFire. As a consequence, at least hundreds of protesters experienced imprisonment, and some of them still remain unreleased today.

The action of speaking up, seeking justice for those voiceless may bring severe consequences, or even cost the life of the brave ones, no matter the time or place. But why are there always people willing to risk themselves to stand up against injustice for others? Perhaps this is a question that cannot be answered easily by the monument or the blank papers.
