@JOliverhauser@CoachWolfson What does playing against kids your own age do for your development? ZERO. Weight room and find adult pick up all summer! AND go to college summer camps and ACTUALLY get on campus to get an experience.
High school basketball humbles a lot of kids coming from AAU who are allowed to play out of control, make dumb mistakes and have a low IQ w/ no consequences. When they actually have to play basketball, it doesn’t look the same #GrindHouseBasketball
@DRIVEBasketball@whatmatters432 Participation trophy recipient’s take…edge and fire are necessary in addition to what she has already been representing up to this point.
#youthsportsparents Don’t sleep on College Summer Elite Camps! Make sure you research dates at schools your athlete has interest in and where they can actually play. Keep your grades up and work on your INDIVIDUAL skills sets and go right to the source.
The vast majority of AAU players would be much better off (and their parents have much more $ in their pocket) if they played locally/semi-regionally with their HS teammates, and did more individual skill work. But, there’s less prestige in that.
@travisWSN @Brian_Butch Family’s will one day realize they missed out on too many vacations, fishing trips and days on the beach and kids will remember those trips more than some game on court 6 in the aux gym.
Kids that are D1 r going to be found no matter what and D3 kids will be also.
Im going to speak some truth. It's blows my mind that @grassrootshoops can win a national tournament with some of the best team in the country. And see, no shout-outs or write-ups from it's on state just crazy, The bias is real. These kids deserve that love from home.
@MSHSL@MSHSL_Officials Cut some of the organized play opportunities in the offseason months of some of the sports and bring back pick up/sandlot opportunities and the issue gets better! Kids need to play without the neee of coaches, refs, and parents watching all of the time..
The new wave of kids have no space in between seasons to reflect, course correct and make the proper necessary changes in their game. They never get the opportunity to “miss” the game.
I see this a lot.
