@baileysimrell@cjc Actually that’s a reason against Jira. I hate all those custom fields. I just need reporter, processor, component, status, title, body and comments. Custom fields are for managers not devs.
You’ve been lied to about Africa.
@MagatteW: “Africa is not poor because of colonialism. Africa is poor because we have made it impossible for our people to create wealth.”
@GergelyOrosz It makes sense to have something like a secure MCP gateway which controls which MCP tools can be used and which can centrally controlled and monitored. But the same is also true for shell scripts, npm and browser extensions.
@GergelyOrosz An MCP server has the same issues as any node package or shell script from the internet or a browser extension. If you are concerned about security issues regarding MCP servers you should also have answers for node, shell scripts and browser extensions.
@GergelyOrosz It's like Jira but worse. Jira is already overloaded for me. For tickets/issues I just need title, body, component, status, assignee, reporter. Everything else is optional. But you can already add 100 of additional attributes to Jira. ServiceNow starts there. And scrollbar hell.
@cramforce@excalidraw me too. In the past I've used PowerPoint or the drawio VSCode extension. Now I use the excalidraw VSCode Extension all the time. You just need to create a new file with the .excalidraw.svg extension and you can scribble ideas and architecture and afterwards commit to github
The winners will master "meta-skills":
• Learning to learn
• Creativity
• Adaptability
Plus becoming "AI native" - using tools so well you become superhuman.
But the biggest change is coming to education itself:
We will soon see horror stories of very expensive mistakes done by accepting code suggestions from AI coding tools - by people who believed "AI does better work than SWEs"
Companies will soon learn the lesson that an SWE using AI coding tools >> a non-SWE using AI coding tools
A good reminder why you can pick up GenAI - and you probably should. Real story:
Small company, 5 devs. Last time they hired was 12 years ago. AI comes out: company wants to add AI feature. But they don't have the expertise. So hire an AI agency.
Agency spend 3 months planning:
I’m starting a new business.
After you fire your developers and start vibe coding everything, we’ll come in and fix all the bugs and security issues with your AI-generated code.
We’ll take what you have and make it work.
The service will start at $1,000/hour.
