Good Governance does not occur by chance. It cannot be introduced overnight. Somalia needs not strong men but strong institutions, transparency&accountability.
The future of Somalia cannot be built by replacing one group of elites with another. It must be built by changing the system: from personal power to institutional power, from public resources as private opportunity to public resources as national responsibility, and from government control to citizen service.
Somalia needs a government authority based on law, accountability, justice, and public service, where state resources belong to citizens, institutions are stronger than individuals, and every Somali has confidence in the rule of law.
Somalia’s long term peace and stability cannot be achieved only through changes of leaders, political agreements between elites, or temporary compromises during crises. The country’s central challenge is the weakness of state institutions and the absence of a shared political framework that all actors trust and respect. Therefore, the priority must be to build a system where institutions are stronger than individuals, laws are stronger than political interests, and national interest is placed above competition for power.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations and commendation to Ugaas Abdirizak Ugaas Abdullahi Ugaas Hashi Ugaas Faracade, who was magnificently enthroned in the city of Mogadishu.
It is worth highlighting the remarkable attendance of Somali traditional leaders from across the country, former politicians, members of the government, and the President himself.
The enthronement of this Ugaas has brought together the Somali people in unity. We wish him great success and hope that he becomes a unifying leader for Somalia and a symbol of national cohesion.
The Center for Governance studies (CGS) expresses a deep concern about the recent contradictory and escalating public statements made by different Federal Government Ministries through press conferences and social media.@HamzaAbdiBarre
The Somali people are very desperate from the failure of the meeting and also now hearing words that could make the national deadlock worse and make it harder to have meaningful dialogue at a time when the country needs calm, responsibility, and political maturity.
Some statements of certain ministries have used words that hurt and sensitize the political tensions making them worse, and break trust instead of words that heal the wounds.
CGS advices and reminds those Excellence Ministries, that words matter in unstable political situations. State officials' public messages have institutional weight. When Ministers say things that are contradictory or inflammatory, it shows that the government isn't working together and makes people less confident in the national leadership
CGS , suggests with all due respect that the Somali FG needs a disciplined MINISTRIES to talk to the people. Public statements that go against the spirit of engagement make it impossible for political negotiations to work. Responsible leaders must be consistent in their messages and hold back.
CGS calls the FG Ministries has to know that People who disagree with you are not your enemy.
In a democracy, political opposition is a normal part of how things work. Personal attacks, character assassination, and clan-coded language make it harder for politics to be open to everyone.
CGS calls those individuals to consider and remember always that National Healing Needs Careful Language and Somalia's political wounds are very deep. Leaders need to use language that calms things down instead of making them worse.
Knowing the structure of the Somali governance system, the PM’s and his cabinet are responsible for everything.
For an executive to work well, they need to communicate in a coordinated and disciplined way. Messages that are broken up hurt the credibility of institutions and make the public more confused.
Before delivering messages , those Ministries should think twice and make sure their messages are in line with a single national strategy, and stop the inciting speeches as well as the inflammatory language on social media. A new commitment to talking to each other with respect and public reassurance that the negotiations are being held in good faith is to be focused and prioritised.
CGS finally reminds the somali leaders from both sides (FG or the council of somali future )that Somalia in this very critical situation, no one benefits from escalation. Being politically mature doesn't mean you're weak, it means you're a leader. @HassanSMohamud@HESharifShAhmed@HassanAKhaire@antonioguterres@M_Farmaajo@AAbdishakur@PresidentMadobe@HESaidADeni@MohamedHRoble@US2SOMALIA@UKinSomalia@CharlesKingFCDO@JennyChapman@QatarEmbassySO@TC_MogadisuBE@UNSomalia@UNSOM@EU_in_Somalia @UNTMIS @francescaDM_EU@MFATurkiye@ChineseSomalia@UNDPSomalia@_AfricanUnion@DutchMFA@NLinSomalia@SweMFA@UN_HRC@hrw@amnesty @UNTMIS @AsstSecStateAF@DeputySecState@US_SrAdvisorAF@SenateForeign@USAfricaCommand@NorwayMFA
Article 18 of our Provisional Constitution guarantees freedom of expression. By detaining Abdi Hafid Nuur Barre, the security agencies are not enforcing the law—they are breaking it. This act is a violation of our supreme law and a betrayal of the Somali people's aspiration for a democratic state governed by rule of law. #Somalia #RuleOfLaw
The detention of the journalist is also a clear violation of international human rights law, including the ICCPR which Somalia is party to. We call on @UNSomalia@amnesty@hrw@US2SOMALIA@AU_PSD@defprotection@DutchMFA@NLinSomalia and the international community to raise their voices and demand his immediate release. Silence is complicity. #PressFreedom #Somalia
A government that silences the media is a government that has something to hide. Somalia cannot build a peaceful future on a foundation of censorship and fear. Respect for the constitution must start with respecting the rights of those who ask difficult questions. Release Abdi Hafid Barre now. #Somalia
I sincerely and strongly commend the leaders of the Council for the Future of Somalia for reaching a solution with the FG on the dispute over the venue of the meeting.
As CGS has previously stated, Villa Somalia is a national institution and a symbol of the sovereignty and unity of the Republic. it is not the private residence of any individual.
Villa Somalia’s status should be respected by all somali people. Leaders come and go and you are all competing to win and reside the villa #somalia.
Congratulation to all Muslim people and especially to the entire somali nation. May Allah forgive our sins during this blessed month, and may Allah make this month in which Somalis reconcile and overcome the discord among them.
The right to life (UDHR Article 3) is the most fundamental right. Without it, no other rights matter.
Drought is deadly. It can happen and not only a natural phenomena but because of political distractions.
A) 6.7 million Somalis face acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 or worse).
B). 1.8 million children under five face acute malnutrition.
C) 1.4 million people displaced by drought in the last year.
D) Thousands dead and uncounted, unremembered, unaddressed.
Political leders should keep in their minds that Human Rights ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE
The Somali people do not have the luxury of choosing between political rights and economic rights. Between civil rights and social rights. Between the right to participate and the right to eat.
We need all of them.
And we need them right now.
While leaders fight over where to meet, kids are buried.
Families are forced to move while press releases are being written.
While politicians' egos are taken care of, a whole generation goes hungry.
Somalia is going through a crisis of human rights.
No politician is paying attention to it.
The political meeting should be conducted and it has to happen in a way that puts the dying first, not the strong.
We will be keeping an eye on things.
We will be keeping track.
We will be giving names.
History won't care who was in charge of the nation or FMS at this time.
It will ask who saved whose life.
So far, the answer is no one.
Every day of political deadlock is another day these numbers rise.
Every press release about venue disputes is another day humanitarian appeals go underfunded.
Every hour spent on political positioning is another hour children spend hungry.

The Center for Governance Studies (CGS) expresses serious concern regarding the ongoing dispute between the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the Somali Future Council over constitutional amendments and the timely conduct of elections.
It is not rational for the Somali people to remain mere spectators. We remind both sides that the Somali people are the owners of this nation. If the Federal Government does not show genuine compromise and the opposition does not demonstrate commitment to a clear, pragmatic solution ( electrol model ) to safeguard the nation. The public will judge, their rights can not be denied and both sides must understand that the Somali people will hold them accountable.
CGS warns both sides if the Government continues to hide behind rhetoric, and the opposition continues to hide behind fragmentation, the public will not remain silent. The Somali people are losing patience.
CGS appeals to the parties to remain steadfast in dialogue until a solution is reached. For months, we have been told that leaders are negotiating, that breakthroughs are imminent, and that an agreement is just around the corner.
CGS calls on both sides to approach the solution with honesty, addressing a collection of grievances rather than pursuing a collective agenda for compromise. The Somali public is exhausted.
CGS confirms that the Somali people are desperate, not for meaningless arguments or differences, not for promises but for tangible results.
CGS does not endorse any form of polarization and calls for a joint solution. We reject conflicts that may lead to political instability and extreme fragmentation.

A significant vote of confidence in Somalia's growing leadership role. Congratulations on securing a seat on the African Union Peace and Security Council for the next two years #somalia
