Maybe this is exactly what F1 needed: they made it so complicated that not even the teams and drivers fully understand what’s going on, so we get a lot of variability. Previously the cars were so optimized that races became super predictable. But it’s the unpredictability that makes a sport fun. Reminds me of how cars used to be very unreliable 20yrs ago so you couldn’t even predict who will finish the race, let alone win. The F1 purists want me to hate these cars, but I’m liking it. And very likely the few annoying issues like lift and coast in quali will get addressed quickly. Anyway, very happy for Kimi. I’m rooting for him this year.
