@BethMooreLPM I'm the past of my church for 13 years. Nothing has changed here. Women don't try to be the pastor, they don't try to be men. Nothing has changed here for decades. So women are empowered to to all sorts of ministry here. That is what 95% of the SBC is.
@nickuva@WesleyLHuff@MikhailaFuller The weakness of this argument is that the Corinthian church was a total mess- yet all the sign gifts were there, and being misunderstood and abused! If the sign gifts were still in operation, they wouldn’t be dependent on the church, but on God.
@Pastor_Gabe You obviously don’t attend a congregational church. Committees make recommendations to the congregation after deliberation. They don’t have authority. Come on, man.
@JosephLee1003@WesleyLHuff@MikhailaFuller That doesn’t make it biblical or authentic. Also, if the gifts were still in operation they would manifest in all the churches, not just those who want them to be real. Miraculous gifts would produce miracles- not baby talk, questionable healings & Shawn Bolz-ish prophecies.
@William__Tanner@jasonkeithallen It’s funny how smart people don’t see the weakness of a “whataboutism” argument. Let’s address political ideology and idolatry. But that doesn’t mean other things aren’t crucial to our cooperation and ecclesiology. Also, 70% of SBC members aren’t putting up billboards.
@darrellm@bartbarber It’s called congregationalism. Committees make a recommendation and everybody gets one vote on the pastor’s salary- irrespective of genitalia.
@JPGolfandTaxes@drlarryhelms This simply isn’t intelligent. You need the Calvinists. The vast majority under 50 lean that way. That fight was over 20 years ago. There are major battles to fight before you get back to that one.
@BaptistBlogger How do you know? Can you tell they are using docent? Is all AI use bad? I was having it survey quotes from specific puritans on a topic. A great time saver and helpful. Sort of a glorified Google that can help refine searches. Thoughts?
@ehedinman @nathanafinn @BaptistReview@JonathanLeeman Eric. Do really think the great middle in SBC life is egalitarian? Not even the great middle of the BGCT churches close to being egalitarian. The “narrow interpretation” may be narrow, but it’s not new or rare. If you want to see a great driving away, embrace egalitarianism.
@MatthewHartke Total fake. It has always seemed odd to me that people could seem so gullible. I exposed Bolz and his Joy from Berlin reading. But I’ve really come to see that it’s easy for intelligent to be deceived when they are desperate to follow the Lord.
@FitHog@JoWiKi This mess can be straightened out without throwing out the institutions. Our system lends itself to messes. I just try to remember that Southern Baptists aren't the convention, it is the people in the pews and they are wonderful.
@howertonjosh I have been preaching for 10 years and have used a manuscript the whole time. It provides a filter, keeps me on the rails, and assures me that I have worked hard preparing before I ask people to listen to me talk for 40 minutes.
