Today, just as it is every day, is a good day to affirm our support for LGBTQ persons.
(Here’s a thread of my thoughts. I have a small circle so I’m not sure who might read, but if you do, I appreciate it.) 1/11
@JimLaPorta@joekent16jan19 Trump apparently thinks marrying someone else after you’re widowed is a scandal but marrying someone else after an affair is a-ok.
@richardcarlbom@MinnesotaDFL I was one of those new people! Normally, I’d only go to a caucus if I had something to vote for where the outcome was in doubt. In this case, I just went to meet likeminded people. And ten years ago, I was still a Republican.
I live in a small, quiet, low-crime community where moms walk their kids to school and an old cowboy rides his horse around town. It is also majority Latino (including the moms and the old cowboy), and Trump’s troops are causing chaos. This incident was 2 blocks from our house.
@emzanotti DeSantis is definitely not my guy, and I also happen to love a huge amount of music since 1995. I don’t think he’s exactly wrong though. I think a lot of it is just how ok one is with music going away from the golden age of rock bands.
@hoopersnook What about Phil 4:13 when it comes to high school math team? 😄
Seriously though, that’s great advice. Verses out of context lead so many astray.
@DavidAFrench This was about a mile away from me. I woke up to this message, which was in itself horrifying, but not nearly as horrifying as the news I’d hear a few hours later.
@LChas22 She blocked me at some point but it seems that I’m now unblocked. I’m guessing it was a megablock because I don’t think there was a particular tweet I had that would have that inspired a block.
@atrupar I’d fail fourth graders if this was their writing assignment based on capitalization and punctuation mistakes alone, even if I give them a pass for the Orwellian fascist rhetoric.
@1drcole Yes, but I’m mostly on Threads and BlueSky now. I just pop in a bit on this app very occasionally. Christian NeverTrumpers (both longtime progressives and former Republicans who may still be kinda centrist) are in abundance elsewhere.
@Ameen_HGA One thing I think we see a lot of these days and will increasingly see is the double-standard of lambasting pro-life Christians who support Democrats (eg Liz Cheney) while giving a free pass to Republicans to support legal abortion. It's all politics, no substance for them now.
@mattnightingale I'm always amazed at the grace I see from people like you. I'm a straight, white, Christian, former Republican guy, and even I have a hard time not wanting to pull the plug on certain relationships. (I do take into account past and current closeness and how obnoxious they are.)
