@AnthonyRayGray@HollyAMeyer@AP@ryanburge Problem is, the churches selling those things are the ones growing and staying open. The churches seeking a middle, more moderate way are closing.
@PaulWorcester Love to hear the stats on short term missions in this conversation. Has anything changed in the last decade? My understanding is that elevating STM’s doesn’t really elevate missions engagement or giving. Any update here?
Love to read this book!!
@MattDanielsBCM @PaulWorcester My experience says the first idea you posted really doesn’t move ppl to action. It gives them warm sentiments toward missions, but they rarely do anything other than express their thankfulness that their church does missions work.
But…Your 2nd idea is the MISSIONAL JUICE!
@PaulWorcester Get people physically engaged. Go beyond giving money or simple shoe box type ministries. Ex: Running marathons for clean water with World Vision challenged me physically, gave me a story to tell, and easy cause to invite friends/family to join me by giving or running.
@erichoke Cause it’s the old retired guys that do all the programming. Then they can’t figure out why young guys don’t want to come! Men’s ministry was among my least favorite things in pastoral ministry.
I'm 38 years old and I think this is the first time in my internet-using life that there's just, like, nothing fun to do online anymore. I open a web browser and just sit there with nowhere to go.
@O_C_Boyd @cb2one4@HuskGuys Klatt said it best: “Deion wants to win now so he went after the transfer portal, Rhule is building the program with freshmen.”
The portal is where it’s at these days. You find tried and true talent from smaller programs, FBS, or second string players from the best programs.
