New App: Pulse — a kids’ health log built on one rule: nothing leaves your phone.
100% Apple, top to bottom. Transcription by SpeechAnalyzer on device. Structuring and pattern reflection by the on-device Apple Intelligence model on the Neural Engine. Storage in SwiftData. Swift 6, SwiftUI. Zero third-party code in the binary.
There’s no account. No analytics. No tracking. No third-party SDKs. No network calls. The app is private because there is nothing to collect. Turn on airplane mode and everything still works. There’s no server.
You speak what happened with your kids — fever, meds given, appetite, energy, sleep, mood, a quick photo of a rash or thermometer — and Pulse writes it down, cleanly structured by child. It notices patterns across days and weeks, then generates a clear, chronological summary you can hand straight to the doctor.
The local model is an observer. It never diagnoses, never advises, never comforts. When it has nothing real to say, it says nothing.
Built for my kids, rolling it out privately shortly.
People are like "You're just running a lifestyle business."
“Yeah I have a business and a lifestyle and my lifestyle happens to include a fucking yellow Lamborghini.”
When software was expensive - thin, horizontal, best-of-breed software stacks extracted rents across every business.
Now that software is cheap - value moves to vertically integrated businesses that deliver opinionated end-to-end experiences.
not talked about enough the rising costs of tokens, yet output predominately the same
it's a token management issue
need to define acceptance criteria of task, then use intelligence to occasionally test across cheaper models
run this process bi-monthly & watch costs drop
@DennisonBertram Yeah I suppose it’s that simple
I often get hung up on this step because I’m worried about spending too much, but I suppose I can use trad virtual cards & cap those on that side
We’ve received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
We'll begin restoring access tomorrow, and will share an update soon.
We’re grateful to our users for their patience, and to everyone who worked with us on redeploying the models.
