This is such a haunting image of Wangwang. She trots off into the moonshine, heading home to her pups. Completely unaware this would be the last night of their lives #justiceforwangwang
SHE SAVED 49 PEOPLE.
8 DAYS LATER, SHE WAS HANGED.
Her name was Xiao Hua — “Little Flower.”
On May 12, 2008, shortly before the catastrophic Wenchuan Earthquake struck Sichuan, Xiao Hua began behaving frantically—barking repeatedly and tugging at her owner’s clothes.
Her unusual behavior alarmed the villagers.
In Haiguang Village, 42 of the 76 residents who were home went outside.
About 20 minutes later, the earthquake struck and much of the village collapsed.
But Xiao Hua did not stop helping.
Before professional rescue teams arrived, she moved through the rubble, barking and digging to alert villagers to people trapped underneath.
She helped them locate and rescue 7 more survivors—including a child just over one year old.
42 + 7 = 49 human lives.
Then came the part of her story that is almost impossible to understand.
After survivors were transferred to a shelter in Mianyang, authorities ordered dogs brought from the disaster zone to be culled as an epidemic-prevention measure.
Xiao Hua’s owners tried to hide her.
When she was discovered, her owners and villagers reportedly begged for her life, explaining that this was the dog who had just helped save their community.
It did not save her.
On May 20, 2008, Xiao Hua was hanged.
Today, May 20 — “520” — is widely associated in China with “I love you,” because the pronunciation of “520” resembles wǒ ài nǐ.
That makes the date especially haunting in retrospect.
She had no title.
No power.
No voice humans were required to listen to.
Yet she gave everything she had to save human lives.
We cannot change what happened to Xiao Hua.
But we can make sure she is not forgotten.
Remember Xiao Hua.
Be kind to animals.
Speak for lives that cannot speak for themselves.

I’ve gone through the comments, and I’ve read the love, the pain, the heartbreak, and the anger that so many of you are feeling over what happened to WangWang.
The world needs more people like you people who care, who refuse to stay silent, and who believe that every life matters.
Animals are part of this Earth. Dogs are not just animals; they are our loyal companions, our best friends, and cherished members of our families. There is no time or place for such barbaric cruelty. The actions of these kids show a level of darkness that is deeply disturbing. Evil like this cannot simply be ignored or excused.
Justice must be served not out of revenge, but to send a clear message that cruelty towards innocent animals will never be accepted.
Step by step, our voices can make a difference. Together, we can fight for stronger protection, greater awareness, and a future where dogs are loved, not treated as food or subjected to unimaginable suffering.
For #WangWang, we speak.
For every innocent animal, we stand.
And we will not stop until compassion is stronger than cruelty.
Rest in peace, #WangWang. You deserved love, kindness, and a lifetime of happiness. Your story has touched hearts around the world, and your memory will continue to inspire people to stand up, speak out, and demand change.

This is what BETRAYAL looks like!
This was the moment Wang Wang realized that the people she trusted would betray her.
She never fought back. Perhaps she believed it was only a cruel game that would soon end. She kept hoping they would stop. But the pain only grew worse.
Even in her final moments, she wasn't thinking about herself. She shielded her puppies with the little strength she had left and gave them one last gentle lick, a mother's final way of saying, "I love you."
Wang Wang's story is a painful reminder to be careful who we place our trust in. Sometimes, the deepest wounds come from those we never expected to harm us.
Justice for Wang Wang and her precious pups. They deserved love, not cruelty.
If you'd like, I can also make it more emotional and viral, with a stronger ending that encourages people to speak up against animal cruelty.
