You'll never be rich,
If you can't define enough.
I think about this a lot as I get older.
Two different stories come to mind when I think about it.
The first is a story that involves John D. Rockefeller who had a reputation of being:
• Greedy
• Corrupt
• Ruthless
When he was asked how much money was enough, he replied, Just one more dollar...
Let's contrast that with this story told by Kurt Vonnegut in The New Yorker in May 2005:
Joseph Heller and I were at a party given by a billionaire on Shelter Island.
I said, “Joe, how does it make you feel to know that our host only yesterday may have made more money than your novel ‘Catch-22’ has earned in its entire history?”
And Joe said, “I’ve got something he can never have.”
And I said, “What on earth could that be, Joe?”
And Joe said, “The knowledge that I’ve got enough.”
..........
When you can't define enough, my friends,
You'll Never Be Rich.
Liquidity is disappearing all around the board:
1. S&P 500 lost $600 billion in 2 hours
2. Crypto markets down $40 billion today
3. Four biggest US banks down $50 billion today
4. Bond markets trading like meme stocks
All the buyers are gone as inflation is here to stay.
