“This generation of kids will be different from other developed countries... that could be alarming.”
Psychologists fear these months of violent protest in #HongKong will cause long-term damage.

The frequent use of tear gas in Hong Kong, one of the world’s most densely populated cities, is sparking health fears and changing people’s eating, bathing and recreational habits to limit their exposure. https://t.co/zDobKQJvvH
"We will lead the world in standing with the people of Hong Kong " We couldn't agree more, @SenRubioPress
The majority of Americans are supportive of #democracy in #HongKong.

From Algeria to Hong Kong, angry citizens have swelled streets across the globe in #2019, pushing back against a disparate range of policies but often expressing a common grievance -- the establishment's failure to heed demands for a more equitable future https://t.co/sJSF0YlKJQ
Some pension funds shun fossil fuels, guns and other investments on ethical grounds. But when it comes to Chinese companies engaged in surveillance or supporting China's army, many haven’t resisted investment, note @dpletka and @DerekScissors1. Why? https://t.co/zeJxBLPe4N
There is no line between China’s commercial sector and their military. They are one and the same. China is determined to build a surveillance state to spy on it citizens, the Hong Kong protesters and Uyghurs we know what they would do to us. #surveillancestate
A Russia state-affiliated propaganda outlet manufactured a news story with fake quotes and a video on the Hong Kong protestors. The Russian troll farm altered the video below to create a false narrative that I was calling for violence in Hong Kong.
The citizens of Hong Kong face yet another round of health problems as a consequence of their government’s use of tear gas against them. One big problem begets another. May the force be with this beautiful city! #StandWithHongKong https://t.co/DDxSBUqieh
Chairman @RepEliotEngel on China's threat to sanction U.S. non-governmental organizations in Hong Kong: These orgs existed long before the #HongKongProtests & will remain long after – they are in no way responsible for ‘the current chaos in #HongKong.’

Encourage friends in #HK to go to this event, exploring the effects of the mass deployment of tear-gas, and demanding that the people of HK are told which chemicals are being fired at them and their children in unprecedented quantities.
The people of #HongKong currently live within the #CCP's sphere of influence—and it’s not pretty. #HKHumanRightsandDemocracyAct is a good way to help them. But we also must protect the rest of the world from their plight. My latest via @DailySignal 👇

General Secretary Xi and his communist regime continue to oppress Uyghurs – their own citizens – through torturous detention camps in hopes of eradicating the Islamic faith in China. Proud to join my colleagues tonight to condemn this horrific oppression.

The atrocities committed against the Uyghur people are reprehensible. I’m glad my colleagues came together to send China a clear message that we will not tolerate these blatant abuses of human rights and that we will stand up for the Uyghurs. https://t.co/VXv4fSmTtV
Today the House passed S.178, the UIGHUR Act, which counters China’s brutal repression of the #Uighurs and other Muslim minorities. I spoke on the House Floor earlier today to urge my colleagues to pass this important bill. See my full remarks here:

I joined colleagues from both parties earlier in voting to pass the #UIGHURAct, condemning the Chinese government’s persecution of Uighurs, a Turkic Muslim ethnic minority group in Xinjiang, China.
Over 1 million Uighurs and Turkic Muslim minorities are detained in “political re-education” camps in China.
Just now, the House sent a clear message that we do not approve of these crimes against humanity.
I just voted to pass the Uyghur Act of 2019, which condemns the Chinese Communist Party’s treatment of Uyghur and other Muslim populations and holds those responsible accountable for their actions.
