New York is under a State of Emergency because of dangerous snow conditions.

Yet transit workers are still being ordered to report to work.

Let’s be clear:
Calling us essential does not make us immune to hazardous conditions.

The MTA is now canceling AVAs, OTOs, and vacation requests—and trying to blur the lines by implying that if you don’t come in, you don’t get paid.

That claim does NOT apply to sick days.

Sick rules are contractual.
Management cannot unilaterally change them—not during a snowstorm, not during an emergency, not ever.

If the MTA insists we show up in conditions that are being declared unsafe for the public, then logic and fairness demand hazard pay.

You cannot call workers “essential,” expose them to life-threatening conditions, and refuse to compensate them for the risk.

Essential without protection is exploitation.
Essential without hazard pay is unacceptable.

Transit workers deserve better.
