@HelenHoltby @hdavidrosen Yes, I learned my lesson a while back to ‘invite’ one parent if they feel the child will benefit from their presence. We have had a few that would rather not accompany their child and we tell them that is perfectly fine too.

@jwolpaw @accracpodcast Great interview w/ Dr. Grymes! I thought she represented our specialty very well. Although newly recognized as a specialty in the US, dentist anesthesiologists have been around for a while. The 1st training program started in the 50s (Philadelphia) & in the 60s in Canada.

Risk factors for PH included preop temp < 36°C, surgery > 60 min, *ambient operating room temp <23.0°C*, and several “high-risk” surgeries.

Interesting discussion re: who is responsible for prescribing anxiolytics.
Too often dentists have pts come in w/ scripts for sedatives from their PCP. Many jurisdictions req permits.

I agree w/ the comments. It’s the treating dr who is responsible for prescribing the meds.

If a patient is too anxious to have an MRI, and the radiologist thinks sedation would be helpful, is it a GPs job to prescribe it?
Is this a reasonable thing for them to send back to us?
Or should the radiology department be doing this themselves. They are doctors too?!
