CAPVA – Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse – is a hidden harm affecting families across #Merseyside.
📄 In 2023, we commissioned a report from LJMU’s Public Health Institute which revealed:
➡CAPVA is rising locally
➡Emotional, verbal & financial abuse often go unreported
➡Mums and female carers are most at risk
➡Only 3% of professionals feel enough support is available
🧠 LJMU researchers are now conducting a national survey to better understand awareness and experiences of CAPVA across the UK.
Locally, partners including Respect are developing a multi-agency steering group aimed at improving coordination and support for families affected by CAPVA 🤝 #CAPVAAwarenessDay
