At today’s City Hall Jummah Special Session, we were honored to welcome Deputy Inspector Waheed Akhtar, president of the NYPD Muslim Officers Society.
Special thanks to Imam Ahmed Ali, Commissioner of the NYC Commission on Racial Equity, for leading the prayer.
It was my honor to witness the 2025 Distinguished Man of the Year Award ceremony, organised by the esteemed Assemblyman @AMWilliamColton and dedicated Council Member @CMSusanZhuang , right here in Brooklyn.
Congratulations to Muhammad Talha and all the awardees on this well-deserved recognition.
Assemblyman @AMWilliamColton is supporting @andrewcuomo in the upcoming mayoral race. In my humble opinion, Mr. Cuomo @andrewcuomo has the potential to be a mayor for all—a leader who can guide New York City toward a brighter and more unified future.
In America, the liberty to choose one’s political leader without fear is a fundamental democratic right. Sadly, in recent elections, we’ve seen a concerning rise in fear and division—this is not healthy for any democracy.
I respectfully urge all candidates to focus on their campaigns with dignity and avoid negativity. Let us remember the wise advice of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “Say what is good, or remain silent.”
Let us pray and hope for the best in these upcoming elections—for unity, peace, and a better future for all.
Congratulations, @chaplain786, on your promotion to your new role.
Your dedicated, non-denominational service is greatly appreciated and essential for the betterment of those in need.
Prayers and best wishes for you to fulfill your responsibilities with sincerity and faith.

Commissioner @Imamahmedali of @RacialEquityNYC delivers a powerful speech on the importance of racial justice and equity, reaffirming our commitment to building a more exclusive and fair society for all. Together, we stand for change. #Racialinjustice#brooklynemerge
@NYCMayor Absolutely, standing together against political violence is crucial. We can create a better future by fostering understanding and respect among all Americans. Peaceful co-existence is not just possible but essential for our collective progress. @NYCMayor@Imamahmedali
For far too long, our nation has been in the grip of an escalating political crisis that has torn us in two.
Yesterday, we saw this play out in plain sight in Pennsylvania.
We must all come together and say “enough” to violent political rhetoric. Political violence has no place in America, and it’s up to us to better our current climate.
We are all New Yorkers and Americans. We can and must co-exist in peace.
Thank you to @TheRevAl, @ARBernard, Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Imam Ahmed Ali Uzir, @JoeBorelliNYC, and other faith and political leaders for joining us today to call for unity following yesterday’s horrific shooting.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to an exceptional community leader, Commissioner, Advisor of NY State Assemblyman, Clergy at NYPD, A/NYPD Captain, Chief at USCF, COVID Hero & Imam of Iqra Masjid: Syed @Imamahmedali on receiving this prestigious award from the mayor.

Humble Announcement: New Role as Commissioner at NYC Commission on Racial Equity @RacialEquityNYC 🇺🇸❤️
Dear Friends and Community Members,
I am humbled and honored to share that I have been appointed as a Commissioner at the NYC Commission on Racial Equity. This significant appointment, effective from May 3rd, 2024, marks a historic moment as I become the first-ever Pakistani to hold this role.
The NYC Commission on Racial Equity has appointed 15 commissioners with the vital responsibility of ensuring that racial equity is properly addressed and upheld across our great city. Over the past few weeks, I have dedicated myself to understanding the depth and scope of this responsibility, and I am now ready to fully embrace this role with the commitment and passion it deserves.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all community members and supporters who have stood by me and believed in our shared vision for a more just and equitable society. Your support has been invaluable, and I am deeply thankful for it.
As we begin this journey together, I ask for your continued prayers and support. Let us work hand in hand to create an environment where every individual is treated with dignity and respect, and where equity is not just an ideal but a lived reality.
Please know that regardless of my role as Commissioner, I am still your brother and ready to go above and beyond for anything within my reach for the betterment of anyone in need. As always, I am just a call away with the same smile. ان شاءاللہ
May our Creator bless our efforts, guide us towards making a meaningful impact, and unite us so we can build a brighter, more inclusive future for all. Ameen.
