Commissioner @Imamahmedali of @RacialEquityNYC delivers a powerful speech on the importance of racial justice and equity, reaffirming our commitment to building a more exclusive and fair society for all. Together, we stand for change. #Racialinjustice#brooklynemerge
It is my honor to introduce the new Garrison Commander of Fort Hamilton, U.S. Army Col. Misty Cantwell.
She is taking over the base as our good friend Col. Jacobs moves on to new tasks to serve and protect the freedom and democracy of our beautiful country, the USA, which we proudly call home.
We warmly welcome Col. Cantwell and wish her all the best in her new role.
Peace, unity, and equal rights for all are what we demand, as these are the values our next generation requires from us. If we do not uphold these principles, history will not remember us as people of faith.
May our Creator help us to work united for the better future of every race, faith & color. Ameen
For far too long, our nation has been in the grip of an escalating political crisis that has torn us in two.
Yesterday, we saw this play out in plain sight in Pennsylvania.
We must all come together and say “enough” to violent political rhetoric. Political violence has no place in America, and it’s up to us to better our current climate.
We are all New Yorkers and Americans. We can and must co-exist in peace.
Thank you to @TheRevAl, @ARBernard, Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Imam Ahmed Ali Uzir, @JoeBorelliNYC, and other faith and political leaders for joining us today to call for unity following yesterday’s horrific shooting.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to an exceptional community leader, Commissioner, Advisor of NY State Assemblyman, Clergy at NYPD, A/NYPD Captain, Chief at USCF, COVID Hero & Imam of Iqra Masjid: Syed @Imamahmedali on receiving this prestigious award from the mayor.
This recognition reflects not only their tireless dedication and commitment to enhancing our community but also their ability to inspire and unite others toward a common vision. Their leadership has made a significant impact, fostering growth and resilience within our community. We celebrate this well-deserved honor and look forward to their continued contributions.

What is Eid Al-Adha?
This year in 🇺🇸, due to scholarly differences of opinion regarding moon sighting, two dates have been announced for Eid Al-Adha 2024: Sunday, June 16th, and Monday, June 17th. Please follow the opinion of your local Masjid.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the "Eid of Sacrifice," is an important religious holiday in Islam.
It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) PBUH to plan sacrifice his son Ismail PBUH as an act of obedience to the command of God.
(Muslims believe the son was Ismail PBUH, whereas people of other faiths believe it was Isaac (Ishaq PBUH).
Here's some information about Eid al-Adha with references to the Quran and Hadith:
Origin and Significance:
Eid al-Adha is based on the story mentioned in the Quran in Surah As-Saffat (Chapter 37), where Allah tested Prophet Ibrahim's devotion by commanding him to sacrifice his beloved son Ismail (Ishmael). As Ibrahim prepared to carry out the command, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram and accepted Ibrahim's sacrifice. This event showcases the importance of submission to the will of Allah.
Rituals and Practices:
Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of the 12th Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah, which is the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
Key practices include the following:
a. Sacrifice (Qurbani): Muslims who can afford it are encouraged to sacrifice an animal, such as a sheep, goat, cow, or camel, following the example of Prophet Ibrahim PBUH. The meat is divided into three parts: one part for the individual and their family, one part for friends and relatives, and one part for the needy.
b. Prayer: Muslims gather in congregational prayers, known as the Eid prayer, held in open space or in the masjid.
This prayer is performed after sunrise and consists of a sermon followed by a specific prayer.
c. Acts of Worship: Muslims engage in acts of worship and remembrance of Allah, seeking forgiveness, giving charity, and spending time with family and friends.
It is a time of gratitude and reflection on the blessings bestowed upon them.
Quranic Reference:
The story of Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son is mentioned in several verses of the Quran, including Surah As-Saffat (Chapter 37), Verses 100-113. These verses highlight Ibrahim's unwavering faith and submission to Allah's command.
Hadith Reference:
The practices and significance of Eid al-Adha are further elucidated in various Hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad). Some relevant Hadith include:
a. Sahih Bukhari, Book 15, Hadith 103: Narrated by Ibn Abbas, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH said, "No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).
b. Sahih Muslim, Book 22, Hadith 4866: The Prophet Muhammad said, "The son of Adam does not do any action on the day of sacrifice which is more pleasing to Allah than the sacrifice. He (Sacrificed animal) will come on the Day of Resurrection with its hair, horns, and hooves. The blood of animal is accepted by Allah before it falls on the ground. So, make yourselves purified therewith."
May Allah accept our sacrifice, strengthen our unity, and guide us to respect everyone's religious beliefs. Ameen
