Ignoring the political dissenters often mentioned in such debates, and focusing only on the young lady who recently spoke about being broke.
It is wrong to vilify a young lady (youths at large) for honestly stating an economic reality many youths live every day. Saying “we are broke” and asking the government to work out solutions for youth employment is not treason. It is economics. Basic, textbook economics.
What is truly unrealistic is how you deliberately twist her lived experience into an “enemy of the state” narrative. That is a false equivalence engineered to suit a storyline you seem determined to shove down people’s throats. Expressing economic hardship is not subversion; it is feedback. I find it deeply troubling that ironically, you loudly preach “service improvement” every day, yet when citizens point out gaps in job creation and money circulation, the reflex is intimidation rather than introspection, cmon we can do better man.
The message was simple: youth unemployment is high, disposable income is low, and opportunities are scarce. That is not an attack on the state; it is a policy signal. Democracies and functional economies respond to such signals by improving services, not by threatening jail, exile, or character assassination.
Perhaps it is time for all of us, especially those in communication roles, to learn how to take criticism without criminalizing it. Give the young lady a chill pill worth of dignity before inventing reasons and fabrications to silence her. Listening costs nothing. Suppression costs a lot more.
