The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, which officially ends on Nov. 30, showcased above-average activity, with a record-breaking ramp up following a peak-season lull. The Atlantic basin saw:
-18 named storms in 2024 (winds of 39 mph or greater)
-11 of those were hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or greater)
-5 intensified to major hurricanes (winds of 111 mph or greater)

Nathan Kinney took this video of a tornado yesterday near St. Lucie Inlet, FL. A whopping 45 tornado reports were noted across southern Florida yesterday associated with the outer bands of Milton. Many of those tornadoes being large and extremely dangerous. An exact number of tornadoes and their intensity will not be known until surveys are completed by local NWS.

Hurricane #Beryl's spectral remains have fomented a near-historic trail of severe weather wreckage over the past couple of days. From Houston, Texas to Buffalo, New York, Post-Tropical Cyclone Beryl has triggered a staggering 200+ Tornado Warnings during the course of her inland journey, in addition to an equally mind-numbing quantity of Severe T-storm and Flash Flood Warnings. Not since Hurricane Ivan (2004) have we seen a Hurricane's remnants incite so much tornadic excitement amidst the landlocked clouds. This continues to be on par for Beryl, who - even in her dying hour - seems to be singularly obsessed with breaking as many meteorological records as she possibly can.
