Hon’ble Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, visited NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on the sidelines of his official visit to represent India at the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial Meeting.

The Minister had an engaging tour of the facility and held thoughtful discussions on opportunities to further strengthen India–U.S. collaboration in the space sector.

As part of the #Plant4Mother campaign launched by PM, a painting competition for the local school children was organised by the Consulate in association with BAPS, Bharathi Kalai Manram, Indian Muslims Association of Greater Houston, Tagore Society of Houston and St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church. 20 entries from among the overwhelming number of participants were chosen for display and recognised at a special event held at the Consulate. Well known Indian American artist Mr. Gopal Seyn and Marine conservation artist Ms. Janavi M Folmsbee adjudged the art works and participated in the felicitation event attended by the selected young artists with their parents, and members of the Indo-American Community. Consulate encourages the local community and diaspora groups to join the #Plant4Mother campaign in planting tree saplings and contribute to global environmental sustainability.

We are glad to see some much overdue attention to the issue of repeated and frighteningly frequent attacks on #HinduTemples. We've been calling attention to the slew of 6 or more attacks in just the Bay Area #California between Nov 2023-Jan 2024, but the problem is older and deeper. 2022 saw its own set of attacks on Hindu temples in #NewYork and elsewhere.

As we said in Dec. 2023, when the Bay Area attacks began, freedom of religion means little when sacred spaces that are meant to be an oasis of peace and calm, are vandalized. Worse, the community does not see any action against the perpetrators while our local and national media in the US ignore or downplay the issue.

We thank @CongressmanRaja , @ShriThanedar, @RoKhanna , @RepBera and @Repjayapal for finally conveying the deep fear that has been haunting the #Hindu community in the US. We ask for a national discussion on #Hinduphobia and #antiHindu hate to tackle the root cause of these attacks. We also ask for other lawmakers at all levels, to step up and take action.
