Today, our cook aunty came home and said, "Bhaiya, kal se nahi aaungi."

She has worked with us for 4 years.

Every year, I increased her salary by 15%. Her current salary is ₹15,500 per month.

On Holi, Diwali, Rakshabandhan, and Navratri, there were gifts, sarees, sweets, bonuses, and cash. Even when she was away for 10-15 days, I never deducted her salary.

I thought relationships built over years meant something.

I asked, "What's the issue?"

She said, "I'm getting a higher salary somewhere else."

I replied, "I'll match it."

She smiled and said, "No bhaiya, I've already taken an advance there. You find a new cook."

And just like that, a 4-year chapter ended in a 2-minute conversation.

The truth is, people don't always leave because you treated them badly. Sometimes they leave because they believe something better is waiting for them.

But today, I learned something.

The value you place on a relationship and the value someone else places on it can be very different.

Boomers have no idea how badly Gen Z has been rugpulled. India produces over 1 crore graduates a year now but there's hardly any decent white collar employment to absorb them, which is why the competition for sarkari naukri is so cutthroat. The stats are brutal: between 2014-2022, 22 crore people applied for central govt jobs and just 7.22 lakh got through. That's 3 out of every 1,000.

The government job pipeline their parents walked into basically doesn't exist anymore. The IT body-shopping fallback is dying too - top 4 IT companies slashed 42,000+ jobs in two years, tech layoffs crossed 1 lakh in 2025. Covid wiped out whatever momentum existed, AI is eating entry-level roles, and fresher hiring has cratered.

A kid landing Rs 25,000/month today isn't failing, they're surviving a job market where railways get 2.8 crore applications for 90,000 posts.

Boomers calling this generation lazy have simply never had to compete for anything at this scale.

Take their “famous” Almond Oil: At a glance, it screams pure almond. But check the fine print, it’s 77% mustard oil, a dash of almond, and a bunch of chemicals.

Yet, Indians buy it thinking it’s real almond oil!

In their defense, they slyly call it Almond ‘DROPS’.

In fact, to sell it in EU, the have to put an additional while sticker with ingredients clearly and visibly placed.

What are some of the other things you would like to be banned?
Movies - for people go out in pollution, create traffic jams around multiplex, eat unhealthy popcorn or
Melas- poor sellers come from their village to sell goods. Why not make the city residents go to the village if they want to buy handicraft etc.
What about books- cutting of trees, authors spend valuable years writing books that no one reads, Amazon exploits authors etc.

Why do we need Uber or Ola car to come ASAP. Why not have everyone wait minimum 15 mins so drivers don't have to drive carelessly etc. You can plan yr trip accordingly. In any case, drivers should be allowed to cancel bookings if they don't want to go where u want to go.
