A cheetah female will rarely mate with the same male in her lifetime. And she mates with numerous males during estrous. Cubs from the same litter have different paternity.

@CWitvrouwen @IUCN @WILDCRU The greatest threat to the Cheetah’s of Namibia is human conflict - Cheetahs attacking/killing local livestock. Namibia is renown for it being “the” destination in Africa to bag a cheetah.

@CWitvrouwen @IUCN @WILDCRU Namibia does not have a governmental wildlife authority. The people own and manage “their” wildlife and determine their hunting laws. Namibia has the largest population of Cheetahs in Africa - approximately +-4,000 (there are so few lions that kill cheetah cubs).

The rife inbreeding happening with captive lions in South Africa means that they could never be used to supplement the wild lion population, because their genes are compromised.
