@ArthurKolchak I actually think bear is very sympathetic. He makes a wish on a lark, gets what he wants, then struggles with the implications from it. He knows it’s bad but he wants her. He tries to fix it but the only way to do it is to kill yourself.

A high trust society has methods available to it to discourage violent crime - as opposed to America.
