UN leadership, Member States, partners and colleagues gather on 6–7 May 2026 to mark 20 years of SPC and look ahead in support of international peace & security.
SPC co-delivered a 5-day UN workshop, in Jakarta-Indonesia, in support of Police Division, to strengthen FPU Commanders’ readiness, leadership & doctrine including Ops planning & use of force, promoting proactive, intelligence-led, and POC-focused operations.
SPC, JCSC and SSuRGe Team completed their joint deployment to UNTMIS to support ROLSIG in
identifying lessons learned as part of the Mission’s drawdown and closure by 31 October 2026

SPC hosted the UNPOL Meeting (13-14 Nov) with Regional Organizations on the Strategic Guidance Framework for UN Policing to enhance effectiveness through consistent and standardized approaches in UN peace operations.
Interesting opportunities for more coherence and complementarity were discussed between UNPOL and the participating key Regional Organizations involved in international policing.
SPC team is in Angola, facilitating a ToT Job Specific Training (JST) to 20 Police Officers from four MS, Angola, Mozambique, Portugal and Sao Tome & Principe. The JST is supported by Germany and Norway and hosted by NP at Academia Diplomática Venancio de Moura.
SPC hosted the Curriculum Review of the UN Police Commanders Course (UNPCC), aimed at providing the core competencies and knowledge required for UN Police Components, in line with UN Police principles, objectives and methodologies set out in the SGF and other relevant UN guidance
SPC IT & Communication Experts are currently deployed in UNFICYP, engaged in digitalization projects, designed to enhance the efficiency of the UNPOL component through improved data identification and analysis, as well as the streamlining of processes and procedures.
SPC held a half-day internal workshop on harnessing Artificial Intelligence, led by SPC IT/Communications Officer The session was tailored specifically to SPC’s work, highlighting both the opportunities and risks of applying AI in UN policing and law enforcement more broadly.
The SPC with OHCHR hosted a Joint Human Rights Training in Brindisi from 8-12 September for various staff of the OROLSI standing capacities present in Brindisi. The sessions focused on human rights and law enforcement as well as UN Human Rights Due Diligence
During his official visit to the Standing Police Capacity (SPC) in Brindisi, @UNPOL Adviser Faisal Shahkar met new @chief_spc Mr. Bo Kou to discuss staff deployments, human resources, budget & other critical issues affecting this rapidly deployable operational #UN police asset.
