🚨 Today the Department of Justice took aim at Maryland's hallmark sanctuary policy passed this legislative session, the Community Trust Act (SB 791). This reckless legislation will lead to more criminal illegal aliens being released into our communities, even if ICE has issued a detainer (with narrow exceptions).

The Community Trust Act would ensure that our state see more Rachel Morins, Kayla Hamiltons, and DaCara Thompsons - young women brutally murdered by criminal illegal immigrants who had previously been released due to sanctuary policies in other jurisdictions.

The Maryland Freedom Caucus not only vigorously opposed the Community Trust Act, but has led the chamber on the issue of immigration law enforcement for years. We applaud the work of the DOJ in reining in Maryland's dangerous penchant for favoring noncitizens over lawful Marylanders and look forward to seeing the so-called "Sanctuary State Act" fall.

Democrats and the media keep pretending there are just a few socialist radicals in their party. I call BS.

In Maryland, there is no meaningful difference between the Democratic Socialists of America agenda and what the elected Maryland Democratic Party in the General Assembly is actually passing.

Just look at what they’ve done:
- Climate Solutions Now Act (2022) — One of the most extreme Green New Deal-style laws in America, driving up your electric bills.
- Community Trust Act (SB 791, 2026) — A major sanctuary-style bill that limits cooperation with ICE.
- Fair Share for Maryland Act (2025) — portion added in budget language that implemented massive tax hikes on job creators, businesses, and high earners.
- Youth Charging Reform Act (2026) — Making it harder to charge violent juveniles as adults.
- Renters’ Rights and Stabilization Act (2024) — Including the Tenant Right of First Refusal, which gives tenants priority to buy rental properties before landlords can sell them to others. This bill tees up the next requirement: the "first right of refusal" for investment property to non-profits.

Make no mistake: these aren't just marginal ideas pushed by a few far-left extremists. These are mainstream Maryland Democratic priorities under Wes Moore and the Annapolis supermajority.
Stop pretending this is just a few socialists that can be contained.

Currently, there are two types of Democratic candidates: those who admit they are socialists and those who hide it. Either way, they all vote for it.

This is the modern Maryland Democratic Party.
