Not unexpected by #Bromley council overall by but nonetheless hugely disappointing NOT to have our #Chislehurst cllrs stand strong in support of our petition asking for road safety improvements at #ChislehurstWarMemorial! Thank you to @labour4bromley
It is approx. 300m from the bus stop to the shops on the corner of Church Row by this circuitous route rather than 100m by the direct route, and we would be concerned that not all school children (from Coopers in particular) will use it.
This proposed design is not corresponding with the main pedestrian need and desire line - which is from bus stop P on Centre Common Road to the SW corner of the war memorial junction.
The proposal designs published for @LBofBromley Environmental Committee meeting on 13 March are good news. However, we feel the nature of the crossing proposed falls short of the safe crossing for all pedestrians, in particular the vunerable - school children and the elderly.
...but the design proposed still exposes children to unacceptable risk and could lead to blaming/less tolerance of those who understandably choose to take the direct route. We look forward to hearing the proposed design being debated at the Enviro Comm. meeting.
We're pleased to announce work on alterations to the Loop Rd roundabout start on Mon 31 July. We've been working with @LBofBromley on the plans which incl. improved #pedestrian access to the Loop Rd bus stop & to the Centre Common - site of #community events such the Summer Fair.

It's #WalkToSchoolWeek! L: Apr 4 1966, Pram-pushing mothers in a road crossing demonstration on Elmers End Road, blocking traffic for an hour. R: Nov 15 2021, @ChisRoadSafety calling for a safe crossing at the War Memorial Junction. Bromley must do better to provide safe routes!
Killed or Seriously Injured = KSI
I frequently highlight this at #Bromley committee mtgs held in public, that Seriously Injured category covers those who have died 30+ days after collision
Meanwhile Bromley KSIs continue to be unacceptably high with current 2022 projection of 101
