I agree. But with Astra’s speed and the quality of the results, it’s dangerously tempting. 😂
You burn through one subscription, buy another… burn through that one too… and suddenly you’re thinking:
“Maybe just one more.” 😅
It’s starting to feel less like a subscription and more like a gambling addiction. Astra is dangerously good.
At the G7 working lunch in Evian, France on June 17, tech leaders like OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei met to discuss AI governance.
The meeting was marked by diplomatic tension following a recent US decision to restrict global access to Anthropic's most advanced AI models over national security concerns—a sudden move that has sparked heavy debate among international allies.
Create a photorealistic, humorous image of the Statue of Liberty in New York, but she is completely exhausted from standing for so many years. Instead of standing proudly, she is sitting down on a small, ordinary wooden stool at the top of her pedestal, taking a much-needed break. Her posture is slouched and tired, with an expression that says “I can’t do this anymore.” She still holds the torch in one hand, but it hangs slightly to the side as if even holding it up has become exhausting. Her tablet rests casually against her leg. Keep the Statue of Liberty recognizable and monumental, creating a funny contrast with the ridiculously small stool. New York Harbor and the Manhattan skyline are visible in the background. Cinematic natural daylight, extremely detailed, realistic bronze/copper texture and weathering, realistic proportions, professional photography, subtle comedy, believable scene, no text. 🗽🪑😩
I gave the exact same prompt to three different AI image generators:
1️⃣ ChatGPT Image 2.5 @ChatGPT
2️⃣ Google Gemini — Imagen 3 @GeminiApp
3️⃣ Meta AI @AIatMeta
Same prompt. Very different results. 👀
Which one do you think did it best?

🚨 AI researcher @hilbertspaess (Jacob Coxon) has resigned from @AnthropicAI after previously working at @OpenAI.
He spent roughly three years doing pretraining research across the two companies. At @OpenAI, he was among the researchers who contributed to models including GPT-4o and GPT-4.5. He later moved to @AnthropicAI.
Now he’s sounding a serious alarm about where the AI race is heading.
In his thread, Coxon says neither @OpenAI nor @AnthropicAI is acting responsibly. In his view, both companies are racing toward self-improving superintelligence — and are effectively “gambling with our lives.”
His concern is not simply that AI will become more capable.
He warns that future systems could become superhuman, hack almost anything, rapidly improve themselves, revolutionize scientific fields, and eventually acquire real-world power and resources.
He also makes an extraordinary claim: that some people building advanced AI genuinely believe it could kill humanity before the end of this decade.
According to Coxon, the situation inside the two companies is different.
At @OpenAI, he says many people have not fully internalized the civilizational stakes.
At @AnthropicAI, he says the risks are better understood — but the company feels trapped in a race to get there first because it fears what could happen if someone else does.
Coxon argues that accepting this race and entering the AI “endgame” is a massive gamble. Decisions with potentially global consequences, he says, should not effectively be made inside the Slack channels of private companies.
Despite all of this, he says he remains optimistic that coordination between AI labs is possible and that agreements to slow the race could still work.
Whether his predictions turn out to be right is impossible to know.
But when someone who has actually worked on frontier AI inside both @OpenAI and @AnthropicAI walks away and publicly warns about the direction of the race, I think it’s worth paying attention. 👀
The question may no longer be just:
Who builds superintelligence first?
But:
Should anyone be racing to build it at all?
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
🚨 @OpenAI may temporarily pause new Pro subscriptions if Astra demand keeps surging, says @thsottiaux. Maintaining service for existing users remains the priority.
For context: Codex’s reported active user count jumped from 20M to 25M in late August — an increase of 5M (+25%), with the milestones announced roughly 10 days apart.
Those are Codex figures, not an Astra-specific growth rate.
Demand for Astra is really unprecedented. We're pulling all the levers possible to sustain the demand, but I've not seen anything like it until now and we went through very steep growth before. Priority will always be to keep excellent service for existing users, but we might have to pause new Pro subscriptions for a bit if this continues.

@OpenAIDevs The speed improvements are great, but the real unlock is more reliable editing and stronger consistency across iterations. That’s what starts turning image generation into a serious creative workflow, not just a one-shot tool. 🚀
