Followup (December 8, 2023):
We got the phones unlocked on the night of December 7th. It was a pain to get there but I was happy to move past this.
In case you are interested in how we got this resolved, I think what ultimately got us moved up to the point that they actually took
call from an Xfinity Executive on December 8th who responded to me directly about the FCC complaint and apologized for the communication problems. It was nice to be able to voice the frustrations they caused us and we'll see if they take some of my pain points and advice to
@XfinitySupport I already tried that on X and got the canned response that, due to security issues, you can't help me directly. Then sent me to the same chat and phone number that failed me the past 3 days.
Based on the countless threads on Reddit and other forums, I have no confidence that this will ever actually get resolved. Does anyone else have anything they've tried that actually got Xfinity to unlock their device? This feels like something the FCC should get involved in.
@XfinitySupport I know this will probably end with no resolution but I wanted to voice the same frustration that MANY people have gone through. I was excited about porting my parents Xfinity Mobile phones over to T-mobile this past Sunday to save them some money.
both devices were still locked. So I contacted them again and said it went into the "wrong queue". The online chat rep guaranteed me I didn't have to worry and that my issue would be resolved in 2 to 24 hours at the latest. Well he was also wrong, both devices are still locked.
transfer to the new sim card. After contacting Xfinity support, they said that I would get it unlocked in no more than 24 hours if I paid off both of the devices. I was planning on doing that anyways, so I went ahead and paid $1100+ to get both devices paid off.
After 24 hours,
Everything seemed pretty straightforward forward with getting my security pin and transferring the phones. (No notice here about my phone being locked and taking care of my balance before initiating a transfer)
